I agree with selling the SUV and paying it off, even though you won't own it. You'll feel better, your credit will be better, and you will save a ton just based on your improved negotiating position.
That said, I got married a year ago, and while we have a joint savings account, we keep separate checking accounts for a reason. She knows that my money is my money. Since half the time it gets spent on her (dinners, rent, travel), she's okay with me spending it on me too. Still don't have kids though - that may be the difference ![]() Good luck either way. I actually feel like being frugal is worth something. Run the RX-7 into the ground (although driving one of them for the gas mileage is pretty funny - mine used to get about 16). |

Regardless of what your wife thinks or how much you want the car, you should pay down your debt first. No, it might not be the fun thing to do, but it'll pay off in the long run.

Is it a good relationship if you have a boss who tells you what you can or cant do?
Me personally wouldnt stand for that sh@t. If i was paying with my own money i would dam straight get it. I am never going to share control of money i earned. But if thats her SUV then you gotta respect her items. Modshock has it right, his passion is cars and look how many he has owned. You own a rx7 i think you have a passion for cars too. to have some one stifle your passion, i dont know i cant comprehend it. BTW i am 29 and unmarried with out children so that gives you idea of my perspective hahahha. I will be issueing prenups for any marriage i get into just so i can bail any time i want to, and thats if i even ever get married. I dont see the point of that legal contract crap where some one gets half of my stuff.

One of my secrets also is to keep the wife in a car she likes. If she's happy with her ride there's a much better chance she won't worry about yours and/or feel jealous. You've got her in a Sentra? I'd be PO'd too! She's taking it out on you!
I've encouraged my wife to drive the 370 and she really likes it. She learned to drive on a '59 Chevy with a 3 spd column shifter so she can handle most anything. She's also really practical so her Element suits her just fine. She's happy, I'm happy..... ![]() |

I am married with two kids, so I can chime in here. I would have to ask, what is the big deal with adding another 3 years worth of car payments? Does she have something planned to divert funds to during those extra three years?
Is this REALLY being fair to you after the Pathfinder fiasco...? |

I would trade both in and ask them to lower the payments for you. Than come home in it and tell her on the way home to get dressed up show up with flowers and chocolates and take her out to dinner in it.

very tempting to get the car.you could get it at 500 especially in this economy.but theres nothing worse than a nagging wife.bring your wife to the dealership she might even get it below 500 seeing how she doesnt want the car.she would be good negotiator.if i were u i wouldnt do it if she says no.the car doesnt talk back but she does.got to get ur game on!
