When I had my 09 manual/sport/base w/ nismo exhaust and injen intakes, I averaged 22-23 driving pretty aggressively. One trip to NC from Florida, I averaged 27-28 highway at 80mph and got almost 500 miles to a tank. With my '13 auto, I got about 20 combined. With my new '14 sport/manual, I'm getting 21-22 combined but its still got less than 1k miles on it. The best average I ever got was when I was modded.
Plus 1 more reason for mods!

When my gas tank get empty, I fill it up. Other than that, I don't worry about my mileage status. If I was that worried about gas mileage, I'd be driving something different.

Yeah, the highway is where I saw the serious MPG gains consistently.

I once put 500 miles on a single tank of gas in my 370z. One thing I have noticed is the Z gets near its EPA suggested MPG going around 80 MPH for highway ammount. If I really only go the speed limit 65-70 that goes from around 26-27 MG to 30-31 MPG.
Too bad the same is not for my GT-R. If I go 80 or a bit more I get like 20-21 MPG if I am lucky and I have to go 70 or below to actually get the EPA 24 MPG. Not that I really care about the MPG that much but I am curious how the numbers differe so much in real practice for the cars considering the highway difference is only 2 mpg (24 vs 26) |

Also, if I'm leading traffic, my average is about 21-22 highway at 80. If I'm behind someone, it'll go up to 24-25 at 80. Thats pretty sizable, but lower mpg>rock chips any day lol

First 1,000 miles in brand new 13 sport 6mt Z, 14.5 mpg, mostly city driving. Put on a different exhaust at that point and since then I've been averaging 16.5 mpg, same type of driving. Not sure if the engine broke in a little to help this but I think it's mainly the exhaust.

I think you probably nailed your own concern at the beginning, you are at elevation the car will not perform as well. Since being boosted, I can definitely tell the performance difference when I drop below 2,000ft. 14 to 15mpg is the norm for me on my commute, if I want fuel economy I drive my GMC 4x4 diesel to work and I will get a couple more mpgs LOL!

I used to get 22.5 mpg. Once I installed new wheels and intake it dropped to 21.8...Still happy with the numbers.
