If I get pulled over on the highway, I'm not going to want to have to get out of my car and pull out my spare tire just to get to my proof of insurance. I've seen too many cars on the side of the road get smashed into by some idiot not paying attention. I'd rather not risk it :twocents:

There's also a cubby behind the passenger seat. Have you considered this location for some of the stuff you keep in your glove compartment?

Minsu 05-27-2014 11:39 AM

Ahh those are filled with my nursing equipment, My emergency kits, mouth to mouth applicators and stethoscope and ect ect. I had it right in front of it but it kept getting under my seat and wrinkling so i pressed the papers put it in the folder and placed in right where the jacks are. But yea haha that would be pretty bad lolgetting smashed on the highway

I think this is part of the problem we are having with your logic:

"lol" and "haha" are not what I was thinking when I posted about getting slammed into while stopped on the side of the highway...

yah, that is odd... first thing most cops asks for is driver's license... then insurance. in my state, they dont even ask for registration on regular cars.

Are you sure it was even a cop? Or did you get pulled over by the Domino's delivery guy?:rofl2:

Most cops will let you off, but a noticeable percentage will love the chance to play Cpt. Hardass and mess with the young guy with a nicer car than they've ever had. You've spent enough time around LEOs to know the type who would write that ticket and then laugh in the locker room about wasting the guy's time.

I know a lot of LEOs, true, and don't see this as a big issue. For every cop that doesn't want you rooting around in your rear hatch, there is one that doesn't want you rooting around in your glove compartment or reaching for your wallet in your back pocket, and several that would prefer you open the hatch so they can get a better look at the inside of the car and keep a closer eye on you with hands in plain sight. At any rate, it's an issue that affects only the OP, and not me or anyone else on this forum. Lot's of people do things differently than I do. I don't worry about it unless it somehow has the potential to cause me a problem.

Roddy1 05-27-2014 11:54 AM

Was it this guy that pulled you over?

yah, ive had cops ask for 'where's your front plate?' and i told him in the trunk. they were more than happy to go back there with me to open the trunk and see for themselves.

i was never cited for not having front plates on, but they did tell me i need to put it on.
after a while it got old and i just use them.

^^ lmao!!!

I say just let people do what they want instead of making big scenes. I always keep my papers in the glove box for sure. But it doesn't bother me if someone wants to put their own under their trunk mat. If theres negative consequences from someone elses preference then that should be his problem. There is no law that states you must have your papers in a certain place inside your car as far as I'm aware of. But it would make sense to have your papers handy without having to get out of your seat. I had a car when I was 16 years old where the drivers side window doesn't roll down and was pulled over, I told him my window doesn't roll down and I started opening my door asking him if this is ok, he had his hand at his holster yelling at the top of his lungs. So I left the door closed and said My Bad lol. Just a heads up.
