do this asap, best mod you will do to your car IMO, drives 100% better after spring is swapped out to century spring.

I didn't notice any real difference with the spring removed. YMMV.

If you really pay attention, there's minor slack. Like, a few millimeters. You really don't notice it when you're driving. It was difficult to even feel the slack.

Nothing worth NOT doing this mod though.

get a long stretch of road go to 5th gear and tromp it and see if the clutch slips. I have driven sticks for years and with the OEM flywheel this car is a pain to drive from 1st to second, and second gear is crap in these cars, they hold power, but dang they are clunky, and not to mention our CSC issues... I want an s2k trans swap

I was going to help you out but if I'm not going to get raped then it's not worth my time.

Maybe one question is, do you experience the same issue when wearing sneakers or something that will give you better feel? If you are def listen to the others. If you haven't tried, try with non-steel toe boots. And if the issue isn't persisting I would recommend wearing different shoes when driving. That's my non-mechanical answer since I am not mechanically inclined

Totally agree! This is one of the issues I have with the Z - how can I fix this problem? The 1st and 2nd gears are really tacky and annoying.

I just put in the lighter helper spring yesterday. There is a big difference in feel. It actually feels like a normal clutch now, and no more "clunkiness." Even with the lighter spring, there is a small amount of play at the top, but it doesn't bother me in the least. The 1-2 shift is much easier now, and I found that I have to alter my way of driving a bit, because I was used to the ridiculous clutch feel.

In other words, do it.

Ya'll are picky. I'm gonna hate the csc failure part, otherwise I already got use to the clutch in 2 months, daily driving of course. I still don't like how the clutch engagement is right at the top at pedal height but I adjusted and have no problems. I am not perfectly shifting every time but I improved way more than when I first bought the car. Unless the mod spring or removing the spring helps you shift faster and smoother at the same time when DD, I'm fine as is

I felt the same way. Seriously, though...I spent 20 bucks and 15 minutes to make the duration of my ownership of this car a lot more fun. Plus, it does help you shift a bit faster.

Does any tampering has any affiliation with CSC failure or increased failure? Just wondering the statistics of those who tampered with their clutch compared to those who left theirs stock.

Well, I'm trying to order one right now. Since it is only $20's. Guess I'll find out myself
