Default Anyone close to Pittsburgh wanna drive my Z?

I have had the car for about a month now.

I wear steel toe boots almost always and thats where my question comes from.

my previous car was a 2010 civic si which was the first manual trans car i ever drove.

when i drive the z starting at a light it seems like its hard for me to find that sweet spot to get into first and also going into second seems a little rough. ive never experienced what a "bad clutch" feels like an need some help.

Im looking for someone around the pittsburgh area that knows about this car or cars in general to take mine for a ride and tell me if you think somethings not right.

Im 24 and live around the canonsburg/peters twp area.
I have no interest in killing raping or robbing you.

Have you pulled out the clutch helper spring? If not, try that first.

It takes ten minutes and a pair of pliers. There's several walkthroughs here.

This is a common problem for 1st time drivers of the Z. It's transmission has a different feel compared to what most manual drivers are used too.

Research the helper spring mod it will help, and if you really want to improve it check out the "RJM CLUTCH PEDAL"

Here's the thread:

Clutch pedal too soft/no feel? Remove the helper spring!

Honestly, it's really easy. I was even able to do it.

I was going to do this but in that thread they mentioned a bit more play with the spring removed so I was kinda turned off by that

I don't think that's true, but I'll test it in an hour or so when I head out and report back (hopefully I remember, since I am 100yrs old ).

The "slop" is the first half inch or so. Not really noticeable. Absolutely not a reason to not pull out the spring. If it bothers you track down the softer replacement, but I can't imagine it being that annoying.

You probably won't even be able to tell. Mine doesn't feel like I have any slack, actually seems like my clutch pedal is a little lower at top of arch.

Only negative is a little vibration if your holding your foot lightly over the pedal.

I don't keep my foot anywhere near the pedal unless it's time to shift, so I wouldn't know if there's a vibration.

If there is slack, Enkei, it's not even noticeable really. But, I'm still gonna check on it here when I leave.

but, do listen to the other posters, the clutch helper spring mod helps a lot. ive heard good things about the rjm clutch pedal too.

if you are really worried about doing the helper spring yourself, i bet you can take the car to a shop and get it done with some explanation, but they'll probably charge you for labor.

Went from stock spring to lighter spring and the improvement is noticeable. My clutch did not have play at the top with the lighter spring.

Then went on to rjm clutch pedal and there was a little more improvement, rjm pedal does have play at the top and it is explained in the instructions.

It's not difficult to change the springs, rjm pedal is a little more difficult to change. The problem is squeezing yourself under there to do the work! I'm not messing with my clutch pedal anymore.
