I'm working with the Nissan Exectuve Consumer Affairs team right now to see if there is something they could do. It's been a fight just to get to that level however, as the regional consumer affairs and their supervisor basically botched my case and didn't look into what they were oringally supposed to, which was reimbursement for the steering wheel lock.
Yup. I recently posted up some info I got from the local dealer I actually trust. It's in my Preventative Clutch Maintenance thread if want to search for it. Basically they treat the CSC as "good will" coverage. If you spend a bunch of money at the dealer and have the dealer do all your routine maintenance, then corporate is much more likely to approve the dealer to cover it under your warranty. I bought the car from another dealership (I let them do 2 free oil changes), and my current dealer has only ever done a headliner warranty claim for me. I decided to do the repair work myself rather than waste any more time trying to argue with them to cover it. If you've got any of that stuff going for you, then you might have a chance. If not, then I wish you luck.

As for ESCL $$$ you should get every dime (incl tow, rental, parts, labor, etc) back without question. It shouldn't take them any time to approve as long as your VIN is under the recall notice. I would definitely be all over them about this.

If you want it, do it. This forum will be biased against the Mustang, of course, but it's still a great car. I had one for a while and loved it.

Not exactly in that order, but I've had a handful of Zs & Mustangs so if anyone knows about this subject it's me.

All I know is you had a Z then a Mustang and now you have a Z again I know there was an S2000 in there as well...

But you'll never hear me tell someone not to buy a 5.0 - pretty sure that I would never buy one, but I can see the appeal

Default No comparisons....

I have driven both - there is no comparison between the two cars, IMHO. One is muscular brawn and the other is agile finesse.
I guess it depends on what you want. I know what I want.

FWIW I'm just speaking generally (if you want a Mustang, get one.) Not necessarily comfortable with buying someone's modded car, though.

The 5.0 Coyote is hands down the best bang for the buck car you can buy as far as power. It also handles reasonably well in stock trim for a car with a solid rear axle (hands-down better than the 04 and earlier, Terminator Cobra excluded). I'd say drive it and if you like it, go for it. Mods are cheap and plentiful, and you'll have way more options than you did with the Z.

Back in January, I almost bought a 2011 5.0 6-speed instead of my NISMO... it was 2 years newer, 15k less mileage, and 2k cheaper. But I just didn't want another Mustang after testing the Z. It's head and shoulders above the SS Camaro and FR-S I looked at though.

I'm not going to add anything new here, and I'm certainly going to be projecting myself into this, but I also see a Mustang at every intersection. And while I appreciate the low rumble of tasteful 5.0s, you do have to understand you'll be living with that every mile you drive it on the road (preferably straighter than better). At least the Z gets out of the way when I want it to.

I see many more Zs on the road this season, but I still get excited and try my best to give a wave or thumbs up when I can. And it's still far lower than any of its competitors except maybe EVOs or recent STIs.

Also, the Z attracts normal people. The modded Mustang is going to attract only sausage. That's just me.

Yeah I just couldn't stand the frs man I think that's only because the lack of power though. If I do end up trading I have a feeling I'll miss the z I'll be honest. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the open mindedness here on the forum not a lot of flame being spread even though everyone's preference here is obv going to be 370z. Lots of valid points being made.

And to the point of buying a modded car I guess I look at it like long tubes are what I would do anyways with an exhaust so any money I can save there doesn't bother me. And a boss 302 manifold is pretty common for those cars too. I guess at least they are tasteful mods. I absolutely won't buy a car where an after market alarm Or really anything electrical was done after market. That is always a huge mess.

I'm a huge fan of both cars so I end up missing one when I'm in the other.

If the sports car driving feel is more important to you, keep the Z. If you can give some of that up in favor of power and speed, the 5.0 is a good option. You can still turn it into a corner carving beast, but it's a bigger, heavier car so it's not going to feel like a sports car. The Z is smaller, a little lighter, and generally more direct. It's like if a 5.0 and a S2000 had a baby. A happy medium.
