Wonder how many NISMO buyers are going to get rid of their NISMO 370z ?

I don't see why so many people are holding Nissan to a quality that rarely exist in any car lineage. Car companies take builds and apply them to every car if they figure out they can rape people at sales with a classier tittle. Toyota has TRD edition. If Toyota had a model and they want to make more money from it they slap TRD on it and bump the price on it 10k. That's just the way the car world works.
My issue is, why are people buying Nismos to impress people or why do people feel that need in general. It was stared in this thread that you have to say "Z when you say you own a Nismo so people know you have a nice car." To me that is just ignorant. I buy cars because they impress ME. I mod them to impress ME. Maybe I'm weird. I don't know.

It shouldn't matter to most of y'all. A high percentage here modify their cars and most look better than a stock Z or Nismo. The average person is just going to see the regular cars as nice and your car as "Damn, THAT'S a nice car."

I don't get why we worry about these types of things. Let Nissan do their thing and let the market decide their fate. Who cares about Nismo being branded down the line? It does not cheapen it, in fact it give it more brand recognition led by the Z and the flagship GTR. Most of you guys don't even have a Nismo so why would you make an issue out of it? Also, let's not go crazy comparing Nismo with the M's or the S'. Apples and oranges in my opinion. Underneath the red lines, slight suspension changes, and tuning differences, it is not far from the car it is derived from. It is well documented that Nismo's are not far off performance-wise. Different on the eyes, yes but from a performance standpoint, not really. Same could be said with the GTR Nismo. Not much faster than the next one below it. I'd say just chill and let it roll.

As a side note, anyone ever notice that Nismo owners never refer to their cars as a 'Z'? It's always a 'Nismo'. Cracks me up. |

To each his own. For essentially the same performance and price (of a pre 2015 Nismo Z), I'd rather a nicer interior vs the in your face body kit/wing. The Nismo, however, does have some very nice wheels. Last edited by b15; 07-26-2014 at 09:58 AM. |

The Nismo has more hp but also weighs more so it's a wash. There is no interior upgrade besides a different color stitch and Nismo embroidered on the seat. The exhaust weighs more and sounds like a vacuum. The wheels are really nice Having owned a Nismo and a regular 350z. I wouldn't spend the extra money on a Nismo unless they do it right and make it stand far apart from the sport pack. The Nismo is great I'm not trying to knock it but the extra 10k I paid I learned later was a very big waste of money to me.

In the end, no one is right or wrong. It's a matter a personal tastes. We could argue endlessly on what is hot or not. If I think a car looks terrible and somebody else think it's great, we are both right from our personal perspective. The most important of all in this case is RESPECT

Maybe the idea is expand the Nismo package just by putting one foot in the water instead of jumping in. Offer cosmetic and slight performance upgrades and if all goes well the entire Nismo line benefits with more in-house customization options.
I don't know a lot about BMW but when I was looking to possibly get a 335i coupe or M3 just looking at in house options in BMWs catalog I was impressed.

I like the Nismo concept and I really hope Nissan invests in it and turns it into something more like the M series. Same with the Lexus F-sport. There's no real 'performance' marque within the Japanese brands

I wasn't arguing about performance differences between trimlines. And comparing a Nismo to M cars is not fair. Nissan has never misled anyone about their intentions with Nismo vehicles in its lineup. They even have press releases explaining what they are trying to accomplish. It does exactly what it supposed to do.
But to say a Nismo is just an expensive sport smacks of jealousy. As evidenced by this site, many Z owners take expensive steps to make their cars different from the rest. Whether that is a bumper change, intakes, sways, or whatever it is mostly celebrated even with "little gain". Putting a "50th anniversary badge and some stickers" on a car is a gimmick. Totaling up all that a Nismo gives actually makes it a bargain by comparison. Celebrate it.
