In the end, no one is right or wrong. It's a matter a personal tastes. We could argue endlessly on what is hot or not. If I think a car looks terrible and somebody else think it's great, we are both right from our personal perspective. The most important of all in this case is RESPECT

Also, let's not go crazy comparing Nismo with the M's or the S'. Apples and oranges in my opinion. Underneath the red lines, slight suspension changes, and tuning differences, it is not far from the car it is derived from. It is well documented that Nismo's are not far off performance-wise. Different on the eyes, yes but from a performance standpoint, not really. Same could be said with the GTR Nismo. Not much faster than the next one below it. I'd say just chill and let it roll.
Well said. Nismo, in my eyes, is a marketing gimmick given its performance and content ratio compared to a Sport package Z. Once they start playing in the M league (ie. Completely differentiating from the other models) I will pay more attention.

As a side note, anyone ever notice that Nismo owners never refer to their cars as a 'Z'? It's always a 'Nismo'. Cracks me up.

So, more hp, different exhaust, different pipes, different wheels, different suspension, more chassis bracing, different body kit, different interior, all of which is unique to the label, just amounts to a marketing gimmick.

Ok.

Maybe the idea is expand the Nismo package just by putting one foot in the water instead of jumping in. Offer cosmetic and slight performance upgrades and if all goes well the entire Nismo line benefits with more in-house customization options.

I don't know a lot about BMW but when I was looking to possibly get a 335i coupe or M3 just looking at in house options in BMWs catalog I was impressed.

Ok.
If you think such a minor upgrade over the base/sport is truly not a bit of a gimmick, you're fooling yourself.

Also "different" != "better"

Yes. Visually its different. Performance wise, don't fool yourself, it's well documented that a Nismo has a hard time outperforming a Sport package Z despite it's stiffer suspension, chassis bracing, wider wheels, and bump in hp. A BMW M4 is quite different than a 435i in performance and visual depts. A Nismo Z's performance is, not very different at all.

To each his own. For essentially the same performance and price (of a pre 2015 Nismo Z), I'd rather a nicer interior vs the in your face body kit/wing. The Nismo, however, does have some very nice wheels.

I agree.
The Nismo has more hp but also weighs more so it's a wash. There is no interior upgrade besides a different color stitch and Nismo embroidered on the seat.
The exhaust weighs more and sounds like a vacuum.
The wheels are really nice

Having owned a Nismo and a regular 350z. I wouldn't spend the extra money on a Nismo unless they do it right and make it stand far apart from the sport pack.

The Nismo is great I'm not trying to knock it but the extra 10k I paid I learned later was a very big waste of money to me.

I like the Nismo concept and I really hope Nissan invests in it and turns it into something more like the M series. Same with the Lexus F-sport. There's no real 'performance' marque within the Japanese brands

I wasn't arguing about performance differences between trimlines. And comparing a Nismo to M cars is not fair. Nissan has never misled anyone about their intentions with Nismo vehicles in its lineup. They even have press releases explaining what they are trying to accomplish. It does exactly what it supposed to do.

But to say a Nismo is just an expensive sport smacks of jealousy.

As evidenced by this site, many Z owners take expensive steps to make their cars different from the rest. Whether that is a bumper change, intakes, sways, or whatever it is mostly celebrated even with "little gain". Putting a "50th anniversary badge and some stickers" on a car is a gimmick. Totaling up all that a Nismo gives actually makes it a bargain by comparison. Celebrate it.

Im just disappointed that Nissan said it would be available in July. They have one more week and no one knows when they will have stock, im going to just get a Mercedes CLA instead, I care less about hp anymore. Im more for looks and if it pleases me.

Far from it. If I wanted a Nismo, I would've gotten one. Would've been cheaper too as the dealer was discounting them more than the Z I bought.

To believe the Nismo is something more than a $10k appearance package with little to no performance gains 'smacks of denial'

Sorry for taking this off track, I don't want to bicker about Nismo Z vs Sport 370z as that's been done ten fold and we all have our opinions. Back on topic about the 2015 Nismo Z
