Exactly. I feel bad that you've had a bad experience. Our experience sets the tone for our opinions. I'm sorry that yours has been negative. I hope things go better with your next vehicle. Car problems can be extremely irritating.

No car is perfect, there will always be a displeased customer somewhere along the lines, no matter the price point. It's a matter of how the company handles it. The Z is my third Nissan in 12 years, and my ownership experience has been average. All three of mine have only had minor issues that were quickly remedied with no further problems. I continue to buy Nissan because I enjoy the way they feel/drive/look, however I'm not loyal to any one brand. I am fairly loyal to Japanese cars in general though as they've been good to me.
OP, I'm sorry to hear about your ownership experience but don't fault you for looking elsewhere. It's the same reason why I will not own another GM in the foreseeable future. Good luck with your future vehicles! |

After seeing a 1000 hp, 850 lb/ft torque AMS built GT-R...pull 10s @ 149 mph...on a stock block...that's bullet proof and impressive...and also $60,000+ worth of work
GT-R motor in a 370 anyone? I know know, do search function. Anyone know if the block and heads in the GT-R are same as the 370's, or are they totally different? iron cast, aluminum??? |

I have had good experiences with Nissan/Datsun over the years but I was dissapointed in the oil temps and the brakes on the Z. My G37 was a great car with no issues at all during my ownership. That being said I normally don't own anything other than my Jeeps for more than a couple of years. That comment about Infiniti having such a low intitial customer satisfaction rating I would love to see as the last I saw it was very high when I bought my 2011 IPL. I knew what I was getting into with the Z, and it didn't take long till I realized that even off the track an oil cooler was needed. Having the dealership try to charge me $125 a wheel to turn my rotors at less than 18K miles was a pisser since the brakes are a common problem. Took me a couple of hours and less than $50 to have the rotors turned. Anyway I loved the cars and will probably own another Nissan down the road. I owned my first Datsun in the early 80's and have owned a few Datsun/Nissans over the years.

be thankful you didn't grow up in the 60's. I grew up in the automobile business pre "foreign" cars, pre recalls. I remember my dad was a service manager at an Olds dealer and there was an intermittent clunking sound from the rear of a 68' Olds 98 (a luxury car back then.) After numerous trips to the service dept. one of the mechanics took out the rear seat and found a ring & pinion set laying loose with a note attached from the line worker saying "I hope this f'd up your day". I got a million similar stories. The sad thing I think is all auto manufacturers have achieved the same level of mediocrity in that the US has gotten a little better while Asia & Europe has slipped. we had an A8 where the ww blades were $80. each but you got a free loaner car and treated like royalty when you went in for service. My wife currently drives a VW Toureg diesel. It's been to the dealer with warning lights flashing for low blue additive & stupid stuff like the random door locks not working....it's a car sometimes ya get lucky ...sometimes ya don't...look how often you see a Bentley or a Porsche on the back of a flatbed.

There are a lot of things about the 370 that I dislike but they are all minor in my experience. I do hate how clunky the transmission is...I hate it when when the light turns green and I have to fuss with getting it into 1st gear...you'd think they would've fixed it by now. CSC is a given but easy fix. Other than that the 370 has been awesome.

I remember I'd wiggle it around in neutral but never had to actually pre-shift into gear. What you do is what I'm doing now with the Z.
