Noise when rolling

I recently went away for about a week and left the Z in the garage. I came back this morning and started her up. I warmed it up and I let the car roll forward and heard a sound from the back like something snapped off. As i was rolling, there was another sound as if something was dragging. Looked underneath and saw nothing. So I continued to drive to work and anytime I was in low speeds or rolling off the line, I could hear the sound faintly. At around 25mph+ I hear nothing though. Anyone know what that could be? I did notice the TPMS sensor on this morning.

I'd crawl under the car again and look for something rubbing against the driveshaft or axles. A recording of the sound might help someone ID the culprit.

Will look into it when I get out of work. I'll see if I can get a recording. Thanks for the tip.

Another thought, Brakes dragging?

Did you check the tire pressures? A low tire can sound like something dragging if it's not completely flat yet.

or e brake shoes siezed to the inside of the rotor. backing up u heard them breaking lose, now they are slightly dragging. would be my guess

That's a strong possibility based on what I heard and felt this morning. I felt a slight tug and then heard a metallic sound like something came loose in the back of the car. I do have a tendency to pull the e-brake all the way up and sometimes have to work it a bit to push it back down.

Apparently the sounds I was hearing this morning are gone. Drove the car around town for a bit after work and couldnt hear any noises apart from the occasional chatter of the clutch.

Took a good look underneath afterwards to see if there was anything wrong and didn't see anything that stood out to me.

If anything when I go get that TPMS cleared, I'll just have my mechanic take a look at it to make sure.

Thanks all for your inputs

enjoy your ride

rev a tad higher and longer when you engage this car in 1st. will eliminate the clutch chatter.

Sometimes I noticed if I kept my old car outside a little bit of rust/buildup formed on the rotors. a few hard stops and within 5-10 minutes the noise went away. It was more of a grinding/dragging noise. I garage the Z so I havent had the pleasure:P

let me guess, does it sound like metal is scraping onto the floor (if your on blacktop)?
Or something similar to metal on metal sound like SKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EE
but only when your tires are spinning?

Yes it was on blacktop. Definitely sounded like something was dragging but not as high pitched as you are thinking. It was a heavier/deeper type of sound if that makes sense

Yah I saw that in the Northeast forum. Will see if I can make it. I am partial to Smithwicks and other dark beers so I can bring something along those lines if I'm available.
