370Z get sport package or no sport package?

Hey guys, I'm sort of in a dilemma here...I need you guy's help and your input in regards to sport package...

Okay so most of the items that come with the sport package, I do not even need...

Synchro Rev match = I could careless about that...I do my own heel toe!

19 inch wheels and tires = I'm planning to upgrade to aftermarket

Front & Rear spoilers = I could care less about looks, front spoiler looks ugly as hell anyway

VLSD Rear Diff = this is something I WANT...I heard LSD is always ftw...now my question is, does the stock Nissan one blow anyway? I don't plan to track the car...just drive aggressively on the streets and occasionally canyon run...will there be a big difference between open diff versus sport package VLSD for my driving conditions?

Akebono BBK = This is also something I want too...but to be honest with you guys, I want to get 17 inch super lightweight wheels...the sport brakes will not clear 17s...but I know for sure the base model brakes will fit 17 inch just fine...they are 12.6 diameter rotors, which I believe are carry overs from 06-08 350Zs/G35's (correct me if I am wrong)....For those who own the non sport brakes, do they perform really well already? I would guess they do since 06-08 350Z's non brembos stopped very well already

So to wrap this all up, I want to spend my $3k on other items instead of buying Nissan's sport package....my main concerns are the VLSD and also the brakes...I'm just hoping the brakes are up to par with the huge akebonos as long as I slap on some wide/sticky street tires...and will I feel a huge difference with VLSD for street driving?

Thanks, any input is greatly appreciated!

oops I forgot to mention that...but I'm not interested in that either...I do my own heel toe...haha

My ultimate goal is to run 17 inch enkei rpf1...since they SHOULD fit the base model brakes...from looking at the specs of the base model brakes, they look like carry overs from previous years and the current G37 sedan/coupe still uses these brakes (non sport model that is)

For those of you who owned 06+ 350Z and G35/G37s with non track/sport package....what offset enkei RPF1 will fit over the calipers? I am thinking of 17x9 ET35 or ET22 with 255/40/17 front tires....and the rears 17x10 ET18 285/35/17

Do you think that will be good for 370Z?

the sport comes with a viscous LSD, which loses efficiency quickly the more it heats up. DDM's failed at the track in a 370, theyre just garbage. A gear/clutch type is the LSD you want. Other than that, its not a bad setup.

I love the Synrcho rev match I think its amazing

so should I just skip the sport package and go base model and get aftermarket LSD?

will I benefit alot from an LSD for aggressive street driving?

i shoudlnt really be commenting due to my race knowledge = pure garbage BUT, from what i read on others on this forum, the LSD it comes with is great for street but not so great for the track. At least thats what i remember.

Street driving no, heavy track use, yes. A Quaife/Torsen will serve you well. Dont skip the SP solely because of that. Keep in mind, if you do get the sport and want an aftermarket spoiler, there may be a few residual drill holes that need to be filled. If you have the money, the SP is a great deal, but its not going to be everybodys cup of tea.

Don't know how to respond to this post lol. When I read it, it kinda felt like you're asking. "Hi, I want to buy a high definition, big screen LCD tv...but I don't like big screens LCD's with high definition". Why buy the sport package if you don't need and like any of it? You've pretty much blasted everything the sport package offers. Looks like a decision to me.

zZSportZz 09-11-2009 01:27 PM
