i think for people that are serious about modding cars will opt for the base without the sport package.

sport package is for people like me who just want the car as a touring car.
it's a convenient package that's a step up from base, but no where near race car
level performance or capacity. hell if i was building a race car i would get the base
with nothing on it and just rebuild the car.

But you can't deny the fact that the Sports Pkg is a major bang for buck for MOST people out there.

well heres the thing...I would LIKE the sport brakes and also the LSD...however my ultimate goal is to run 17s and the sports brakes will not accommodate 17 inch wheels....why do I want to run 17s? cheaper tires, cheaper rims, much more selection of lightweight wheels...etc etc....I do agree they will look ugly *** hell compared to 19s or 20s...but honestly, i could careless how my car looks...as long as I'm smoking on a straight line...and handling like rails on the twisties...i'm okay with 17s....

now with the VLSD...this is going to be the problem...I see that most aftermarket clutch type LSDs are north of 1k...pretty damn expensive....I was just wondering if the stock open diff would be okay for me...like I said earlier, I do not plan to track or auto-x....none of that time attack BS...just aggressive street driving....

Dude (and I don't use that term often)

You need to focus. You have no need for the sport brakes if you just plan on driving aggressively on the street. Yes they are nice, but the standard brakes have similar stopping distances and if you burn them up on the street, you are driving like a maniac.

If you plan on doing a lot of oversteer psycho maniac driving on the street, get the VLSD. I have no idea how much experience you have driving a car sideways, but with an open diff, if you have never experienced it, you may well end up getting into a curb or worse... Simply because instead of the car snapping back like you would expect, one wheel will just keep spinning and send you somewhere you don't want to be.

If you don't like the Syncro rev match, why are you even contemplating this. The brakes are going to do you very little good solely on the street, and you want to run smaller tires anyway.

The sports pack is such a great deal, but if you are going to upgrade the car for the track, better parts are availale. If you just want an even more competent and good lucking street machine, it's really hard to beat.

by the way, I never contemplated synchro rev match....I said I do my own heel toe downshifting...so where did you come up with this idea?

Yes, exactly. You never contemplated the syncro rev match as something you wanted, that is the point.

That is basically the only feature of the sports pack that can not be easily replicated or be replaced by an aftermarket item of better quality.


It just seems like you answered your own question.

I have big worries about the first time you have snap oversteer with the VDC off and no VLSD. I hope you get that, because if you haven't experienced it before, it may take you for a ride

That's my opinion on it....

For me, my upgrades apply for items outside sport package. Intake, Exhaust, maybe some suspension stuff, maybe different brake rotors, but heck the OEM sport brakes are freakishly good compared to EVERY previous vehicle I've ever driven. I've already dodged a few idiots with them

Bout the syncro-rev match... I too heel and toe all the time and only drive MT cars, so originally thought the feature was for boneheads and newbs.

Well, I realized that I actually like it! . Yah, you still need to input a tad of throttle to make it a seamless shift so there's still a tad of fun there. Also, it simplifies your shiftup as well because it works both during shiftup or down.

Say you're like me only driving the Z on the weekends. You don't have to re-familiarlize yourself with the blip when you get in the car. That alone is convenience. You just get in and just enjoy your drive.
Plus, you can shut it off if you want to...but on this car, I'm just keeping it turned on.
