Limited-slip differential - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are a few different types, the two most popular for are car are the Clutch type and the Gear type.

Quaif is a Helical Gear type

O/S Giken is a Clutch type

Generally Gear types are a bit less harsh and more daily drivable. Clutch types are more racing oriented and can be a bit loud in their engagement.

Then on top of that there is the engagement options for clutch types: 1 Way, 1.5 Way, and 2 Way.
1 Way engages on throttle only.
2 Way engages on both throttle and braking.
1.5 Way engages on throttle and engages to some extent for braking.
