So long 370...
Well I jumped ship last week. Traded in my '13 Z for a '14 Hyundai 3.8 Ultimate. Loved driving the Z in perfect weather, on cool(er) days, with no traffic. It was the perfect car for that. Here in, south Florida, with the traffic, the horrible traffic, even driving to work at 515 in the morning, the heat, and every dude in a Stang, Camaro, civic revving at you to race. The Z was just so high strung. Maybe in two years, with a new Z platform ill get back into one. But this Genny Coupe. Bigger, slower (though no slouch at all, itll get up and go, not quite like the Z but quick), and every possible option imaginable and ungodly comfortable. The interior is STUNNING. Exterior...not so much but inside its really amazing.

My wife ended up wanting the Veloster Turbo but we look at the genesis coup and I liked the interior, good luck with your new car! I hope you enjoy it!

My wife has a 2013 Veloster Turbo as well. I've been very impressed with the car, especially what you get for the price. Not to mention you really can't beat their warranty. Congrats and good luck with it!

Enjoy the Genesis...
|
Congratulations on your new car, drive safe

Thanks everyone. Had Z's all my life. Im sure Ill be back in one at some point. For the $, you just cant beat what the 3.8 has to offer, and its more inline of what i want, now that i hit 35. LOL.
|
Good luck! Tho I am in Florida and the heat doesn't do anything to the car. And you do have a/c!
|
Have fun, the 3.8 Genesis coupe really impressed me. It has more features than the Z, but just doesnt have the wow factor of the Z. I would say it is basically Hyundai's version of the G37.

So regardless of ambient temps, is the Genesis pretty consistent with power in terms of feeling?

Salesman once told me once you have Hyndai you will always be stuck with a Hyndai. Its something to do with their trade in values that gives the owner better avenue of getting another Hyundai than changing platform.

Aftermarket, I would say the Gen is easier to mod and cheaper to mod. They have many tune options available, also the canned ones work well too. 370 stock is 0-60 4.7 and 1/4 mile 13.3 (from what I have read) 2013+ Genesis 3.8 0-60 is 4.8 and 1/4mile 13.5 (from what I have read) *And yes the hyundai resale value was a determining factor in not buying one for me. Plus, its a Hyundai.... |

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8R was my second choice for a new car. A great deal and Hyundai provides an excellent warranty. However, based on my butt dyno, the Z has significantly more power. (Supposedly 4.6 vs. 5.3 zero to sixty times.) Also the Hyundai transmission was not very smooth and the engine was very raspy at high RPM.
|
ive had my Z for 5yrs now... to me, my Z has been consistent from 27F to 100F. sure the power drains in heat from standstill, but so does other gasoline -only powered cars.

Also on a side note, I personally do not just go with numbers. We all know Koreans are good with numbers in the fact of making them sound better, all you go to do is look at Samsung and their smartphones etc, all these high numbers mean not much in real life terms. They seem to have a thing with making the numbers look better. When I bought the Z , I bought into the Heritage of it. Also reminds me so much of my old BMW Euro e36 M3 I owned back when I lived in England. |

you dont get 'stuck' with something you like. :D im not a Z fanatic of any sorts. i just fell in luv with the car when i saw one roaming around the streets. the last time i felt this way was when i first saw a G35C back 11yrs ago. had to have one. |

actually that was a serious question... since he apparently had a A7 Z, i was wondering if he test drove a AT hyundai or tried the MT or... |
OP, enjoy the new car. I cross shopped a 3.8 GT before I got the Z, I liked it. If you are looking for a way to stand out from every other Gen Coupe on the road, just leave the badges on. Of the 100's of them I have seen, I've never seen on that wasn't debadged!

Drove it, liked it, bought it. Whilst I had the speed 3 however I always had a soft spot for Scoobie Sti's. However, wifey cant drive stick and hated even being a passanger in my Speed 3 as it was too "rough" for her. |
