^ I worked for a company that manufactured permanent magnet AC motors, so I'm biased for EVs.
Ride in a Tesla....and I guarantee you'll be impressed. Word of caution though: Torque is scary. It's a flat line from start to finish (on curve), all 460lb.ft. of it. |

If you really want to see some torque, try looking at some of the full-electric drag cars that have been built. They may not have the power or torque of top-fuel cars, but with virtually 100% torque at 0 rpms, they will tear some tires up.

Even if they keep the q50 chassis for the next Z it can still come out lighter than the 370z, use more aluminium everywhere - suspension/bodypanels - basically a good weight loss program could take the car down to cayman S curb weight (we are talking 3000 lbs)
Couple the weight loss with a modest power bumper; slap direct injection on the current motor, play with the exhaust (also make the exhaust louder like the old 350's) - I can easily see the car putting out 350-380hp. That right there is not unicorn **** and completely feasible. The car would be faster vs the outgoing gen, would be able to dance with the cayman-s and not too far behind the new 5.0 mustang in the power to weight ratio department. edit: almost forgot, keep the manual transmission and add a reworked faster shifting 8 speed, that will make the car quicker and more fuel efficient. Did I just solve the Z crysis? Carlos Ghosn if you are reading this, I am available as a consultant. Who's with me? Last edited by Redglare; 05-08-2014 at 09:39 PM. |

I couldnt wait any longer for a new Z and ended up picking up an Evo X. Maybe down the road I will re-evaluate this decision. Although, this last winter in Chicago made me realize I need AWD.
Loving the Evo. |

It's all about torque from the start. That's why the new turbo charged BMWs, Audis got such fast e.t.s. They got full torque from 1800 rpm. My friend's got the regular 85, but it's plenty fast and got scary torque. It's like GT-R level torque. |

Guys are routinely getting sub 12 sec quarters in the C7. Some bone stockers are seeing mid 11's near 120 mi/hr. |

The Evo is pure fun. The Z is more powerful at 7-8/10ths. But the Evo has more capabilities below that. I don't subscribe to no skill is necessary driving AWD. Anyone who says that never did anything risky in their driving in a AWD. The Evo drives like a champ. The 12 and up models have tighter interiors than previous years. Just be anal on the dealer if you hear creeks and rattles.

I've said it before, I'll say it again... It's their answer to FR-S/BRZ. The twins took a lot of sales away from the Z. The Z's price drop wasn't enough. Even the concepts pics passed around was of something to go up against the twins, not a future Z.
