Well... Texas is by Mexico, maybe they took Mexico's industry pricing into account as well?

I'm not looking to blow the check on nice rims...I don't track and Houston roads are a pita. I'm considering either the Weds SA15R or Avant Garde M310...tough choice.

I forgot to mention that the manager (I think) at the progressive service center was a cool guy. He heard me talking with my appraiser about the labor costs and that they priced base wheel tires in my estimate. The appraiser, a female (not sexist), was like "Your vin number showed the 18" tires and that is what the parts person said" I was like...uhhhhhh. So he pulled me into his office and told me to google the 40th edition for him and he was able to get everything fixed. Found out he had a sti swapped subaru rs which he gave me a ride in...forgotten how fun it is to be in a turbo car (one of my previous cars was a '05 sti). BP kit is definitely in my future!

Get expensive wheels, you especially need them for Houston's roads, so that they can take a beating. I have gained a lot of respect for truly forged wheels over the past year, and it's gotta be one of the best safety features of the car.

like most things in life you get what you pay for, cheap rims are cheap for a reason. Go to a shop and see and feel the difference.

Found this out once when doing some research.
All 370z (minus Nismo vin) show up as 18" wheels and other base items, because the upgraded wheels are listed under the sport package and many times it just list that as an option with no details.

I am suggesting this because I am doing something similar myself and I can tell you that if I had continued to leave my Z at my apt, my wheels and or whole car would have been jacked already.

Obviously not everyone can have the most desirable housing situation to support our car hobby, but you can find ways to work around some situations.
Wishing you the best in getting the check cut so you can get your new rims and get the damage repaired.

If I'm not mistaken he lives in or near MedCenter which isnt cheap living since that's where most doctors and nurses live. Renting out a garage there would add an extra $200-300 a month to rent which there for a 1 bedroom is already $1300-$1500 a month...

Dunno how they do in Chi-Town but theives in Houston operate a little different lol..They don't rob the poor, they rob the rich nieghborhoods and if its a organized, they ship it up North or Cali and sell it at a "steal" since everything has inflated prices there anyways...

Ok, let me qualify myself. I am a licensed insurance agent although I have never written an auto policy my specialty is marine. But a policy is a policy which is a legal document. Somewhere in the policy definitions it will tell you what the company is obligated to pay and usually that's all the company will pay for. Of course everyone on TV sells "cheap" insurance and as we all know you get what you pay for. Trust me I'm no fan of the companies I work for the customer. A few suggestions: you get a lot more with honey than salt so don't go ripping *** on the company rep. She is a salaried employee and naturally paranoid from dealing with all the gypsies, tramps & thieves that hose insurance companies. Make nice and do her work yourself. Go to the dealer and or price out all the damaged stuff yourself. Photo document all of the damage and send her a summary in writting of the cost of repairs. DO NOT use an outside adjuster as they will take a piece of the action for basically doing nothing in your case. If you like you can send me a PM and you can email the policy & I will point to the language that states exactly what the company is obligated to pay. So when Flo tells you you can save money by picking your own coverage that's freakin nuts. As someone who doesn't know anything about insurance you have a cheap policy but it won't cover bupkiss when you need it!!! My buddies Escalade got jacked in the exact same manor right in front of his house with a boat trailer & flats boat attached.....Here if ya need me.
