A brake fluid flush is never a bad idea, but I recommend getting it done every two years, this will help with brake feel and prevent the fluid from boiling.

Air filters you can simply change yourself, you can stretch it to 20K, but honestly get a couple K&N filters, which is approximately $80 bucks since your require two and replace them yourself. As for wiper blades, well that's your discretion, are your wiper blades worn? I don't drive my car in rain or snow, so my wipers will never need to be replaced. Engine oil is a must, my dealership offered me free synthetic oil changes for 3 years, Mobil 1, as part of the purchase contract for my Z. Cabin filter, yes if you get a musty smell when you turn the a/c on, if not you're okay. Be advised the cabin filter effects the air you breathe, and mold can build up in it. |

I'll come to you and do all this for $400 cash, no tax, no receipts.

You should really post this in your regional forum along with the name of the dealership and service advisor so people know not to go there.

When I hit 40k, the dealer quoted me $580 or so. When I hit 60k, the same dealer quoted me $680-750 or so When I hit 70k, i finally had them go thru everything but told them what they didn't need to inspect. Ended up saving a couple hundred but wish I knew more about servicing my vehicle. Anyways, what I am trying to say is.. Putting that dealer on blast wont do anything since this is the avg. cost at most dealers. I think we should just inform everyone else that we should take our cars elsewhere when doing monthly maintenance/oil changes, etc..

If you really want to get raped, buy a Harley and see what they charge for scheduled maintenance.

Hogwash! Dealerships service "inspections" are meaningless unless they can see $$$ when looking at it. The cost of parts on this list doesn't surprise me. What's shocking is that they actually have the balls to charge $250 in labor to change some filters & wiper blades. You don't need to be a mechanic to do these inspections. It's really not that difficult and all outlined in the manual. Don't forget that these aren't in any way close to the level of detail associated with troubleshooting a problem. This is nothing more than instilling the potential fear of "spending a ton" later by the dealership while they rape you with a ridiculously unnecessary maintenance package. If it makes you feel better, great. I suppose it's a win, win if you don't mind wasting a few hundred bucks. I personally, would rather do it myself. It's not rocket surgery.
