FML..RIP rear right tire
This was yesterday morning, I was heading to work on the 405 doing 80... and a warning pops up on the display "Low tire pressure".
I figured ok when I stop I'll take a look, maybe needs more air...within 5 minutes...car starts to shake slowly....and so quickly CHUB CHUB CHUB CHUB CHUB CHUB -___- I was forced to drive maybe 3/4 of a mile till I was able to pull up to a safe area and slap on the spare. here are the results: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/15/8ejyvybu.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/15/aqy6e2u9.jpg Must've ran over something.. |

How's the damage to the wheel?
|
mines still holding up good and at 13k miles.
i was on the 405 this weekend, i averaged about 100 miles. did the car hop at high speeds? i notice the 405 is always a bit bumpy. |

It is what it is man. Quote:
I inspected it..no problems. Quote:
I managed to safely pull over...it was a little bumpy but nothing crazy. |

is the fender damaged? I see a black ring around the wheel well and that make me cringe.

Not where the rim is visible [what I can see]. The wheel is still on the rim. Taking it tomorrow for a tire replacement. But the rim does look ok. Quote:
That's from the wheel rubbing on the fender...should be able to take that off with no problem. |
Well...I just saw this... HOW? It's from the SIDE! It's fairly big..

Piss off the neighbor(s)? That is a big hole.

Trust me, the tire would deflate LONG before I hit the freeway if that was the case lol. That's a pretty big hole. I was driving for a solid 20 minutes on the freeway before low tire pressure came on. And it was a matter of a maybe 5 minutes after that came up before the tire went flat and the rim started molesting it. I'm just glad it was the rear tire. It's only rubber at the end of the day. |

Yeah..just like any normal person would. I really thought the tire just needed air, which is the case 99% of the time. I couldn't have possibly assumed that I had a hole the size of a 9mm bullet! I didn't feel nothing, I didn't see nothing. |

Yeah bro...no doubt. Quote:
Hell yeah 10 points for plastidip! Quote:
I suppose anything is possible. But yeah new tire hahaha |

I certainly would not have pulled off immediately to change the tire either. I take a wait and see approach as you did.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not but really though, given that I didn't SEE what caused this nor did I feel anything...I simply figured low air. And presto...they got me bro.. |

damn, was someone using your wheels for target practice?

Hahaha seriously bro! Whoever he was he's a good shot that's for sure..haha |
Craziest thing I ever saw was a biker came to the shop complaining he had to keep filling his tire up every few days. Took the tire off the front wheel and out popped a wood splinter 7 inches long and at the base as thick as a dime. How he didn't have a dime size hole in the tire, we'll never know! Crazy that tire didn't blow and kill him.

see what happens when you paint your wheels to look like clay pigeons......they get shot at lol
