I use K&N HP-1008 and it has a diameter of 2.69 inches

Quote:
Part HP-1008 Product Specifications

Product Style: Oil Filters
Height: 2.86 in (73 mm)
Outside Diameter: 2.69 in (68 mm)
Thread Inside Diameter: M20 x 1.5
PSI Relief Valve: 11-17
Anti Drain Back Valve: Yes
Style: Canister
Weight: 0.5 lb (0.2 kg)
Product Box Length: 3.15 in (80 mm)
Product Box Width: 3.15 in (80 mm)
Product Box Height: 2.91 in (74 mm)

Therefore, I use the SS250 because it has a filter size range of
Filter Size Range (in) 2.500-2.750

I believe the OEM filter is the same size. Hopefully this clears up why I use the SS250.

A new oil filter as in doing a complete oil change right away? No, you'll never be able to prove any benefit from doing so.
