Default FLAT 6 conversion ???

I am going to assume I have put this into the right section.....

Last night I was invited to a BBQ to have a look at some cars that are being converted for track use.

It was there that I saw the shell of a 370z on stands - above the engine bay (bonnet off) on an engine hoist was a Porsche 3.8 litre flat 6 !!!!!!

As I started to get my phone out to take pictures of this - I was promptly stopped by the owner

Turns out this bloke is actually going to try and stick this very motor into the chassis - from what I can see he had already modified the engine bay interior to accept the width of the flat 6 - bloke wasn't very open to discussing much accept to say that he got the engine from USA crate. Will be kept as NA and is expected to make 400 - 430hp at the crank.

When asked why?
He says lighter engine / lower centre of gravity / loves Porsche engines / loves the 370z chassis and body.
The gear box will be 6 speed sequential - every thing else will be fabricated.

I **** you not people - it is one of the most unusual build I have ever seen....pissed of I wasn't able to take any pics - but I'll keep track and update you when I can

Cheers

One might say spending money on modding a car is a waste of money because it decreases the value of the car. But 95% of the people on this forum do so.

This build sounds interesting. Hopefully OP can get more info when this things is on the road.

Why not just buy a 911? This swap makes less than no sense. There is no way the 370Z platform is a better chassis for racing than a 911.

I definitely would have left the Porsche engine inside the Porsche

But like most everyone else, I'm interested in the results

It's something different, and as long as it's done cleanly I'm for it.
