I hit a dog once, out in the sticks. Killed him dead. Park in the drive way, walk up to the house, "Im sorry I hit your dog, but I thought you'd like to know".
"Oh, that's OK I'm glad he's dead, thanks for getting rid of him....."
You just never know.....Of course this was 20 years ago when dogs were still dogs and not furry people....still I was shocked.

Glad you're OK.

Thanks man, I was filled with a feeling of guilt last night but as David said, owners should be more responsible.

Thank you everyone. I looked around the neighborhoods nearby early this morning and found a dog that seemed to be the one I hit, I took him to a nearby animal center and he's gonna b fine. I had no intention of hitting this animal, like i said we have no street lights in this cities' neighborhoods and I didn't see him till it was too late, i reacted the best I could and that was y I only caught him with the side of the bumper and not dead on. This bumper is extremely flimsy and not very durable to any impact. Any ideas on what bumper I should go with, since I'm going to have to replace it anyways. Will there be any fitment issues since my car is a 13' model? All your responses are appreciated in advanced.

I was referring to the worst night of my life pertaining to my car and the fact the I injured an innocent animal. Owners should be more protective of their animals, it's in no way the dog's fault. But it was a bad night, don't think anyone on here would've liked this happening to their Z.

I know we have the drls and no other aftermarket bumpers I've seen have the slots in them for the lights. Any suggestions? What would you guys do?
sucks. i would just call up insurance and do a one vehicle collision claim... since the dog wasnt airborne i dont think it can be a comprehensive claim...? if that's going to hurt your premium ask up to how much your insurance will cut a check without affecting premium. they might be able to do this for you.

anyway, just get it fixed and get it over with. GL!

I think it will be, because the dog was moving.

As long as it's not a stationary object it should be.

Agree with kenchan. Call your insurance agent and talk to him first. Most likely will be a collision claim but your agent may have it claimed as a collision you were not responsible for. If that's the case, you pay your deductible, insurance company pays the rest for a stock bumber replacement and your rates do not go up.

If your agent will not do this for you, then you can decide whether you want to pay for it on your own (depending on cost). Then If I were you, I'd go look for a new insurance agent.

How does anyone on this site know why that dog was out? I personally can't make a judgement about something I have no clue about.

The only fact I know is someone posted that he hit a dog and his only concern was his car. Now I see he does have remorse and thats a good thing as none of us know the circumstances revolving around the dog. Why anyone can say the owner is a bad dog owner when they don't have a clue is besides me.

Oh please. I'd feel bad if I hit a dog, but my biggest concern would be my safety and my car. Now if it was a person, different story. I wouldn't come on a car enthusiast forum crying about a dog I hit. I would do the same thing as OP did, ask about issues with my car.

I seriously can't believe the amount of people here that chastised OP for hitting a dog that ran out in front of him at night...Go over to the PETA forums instead. OP it's only a dog. I'm glad you're okay and I'm sorry about your car. You're a good guy for taking the dog to the hospital.
