Good to know then about the BP. I personally haven't run BP in a year because where I live now there is a Shell on the corner and it's always on my way to where ever I'm going. Last time I ran BP though was before they started putting ethanol into fuel and it was back in FL, so who knows if that has anything to do with it.

I've always used Chevron, Mobil and Shell. As to this present day, I haven't experienced any problem.

I tried BP at for the first fill up, maybe first 1000 miles on my 350z, I decided to switch because I noticed that the gas wasn't lasting, then I began to research about that factor, why BP gas dont do the best miles per gallon on your tank.
It is documented in some journals that BP contains the most particles per volume of ethanol, and other blends already mentioned in here.
Ethanol will consume faster in your engine than gasoline.

Shell, Chevron and Mobil, are my safest and cleanest choices at this present time.

I really hate this ethanol in the fuel mix to be honest... I also feel like there wasn't sufficient testing on it's effects in an engine before it became a mandatory mix.

My personal opinion is that the brand dosnt really matter...whats more important is the age of the gas station. The older stations tend to have sediments that have developed on the bottom of their tanks that can lower the quality of the gas you're getting. I try to stick to newer gas stations to avoid this problem.

A lot of people seem to reccommend Chevron though...

whats wrong with the ethanol mix? There has been plenty of testing done on it. and at those levels of ethanol (10%) all it does is minorly bring down the price of your gas, improve SLIGHTLY the octane rating, and make your combustion run a little cooler.

Really cannot hurt at all. if we stay in the 10-15% range.

Now, run anything higher than 60% and all sorts of crap happens. Fuel lines need to be changed, same as the gas tank floater, injectors should be bored out a little, etc..etc.. Not to mention that you run less BTU's per volume of fuel.

so as long as its low, I am all for it, bring my gas price down, run my engine slightly cooler its all gravy.

I just got back from a road trip and only filled up at Chevron stations. I did get pretty good mileage using them but in ATL its a big pricey so I usually fill up at QT.

Default My Nissans always liked Chevron

I first started using Chevron Premium in the late 80's when I bought a Maxima SE, that car seemed to run better, get better mileage and idle considerably smoother. Along the way I noticed that nissan's specifically seemed to run smoother and get better mileage with Chevron. Ive had 6 Nissans and they all ran better on Chevron. By contrast my Mazda RX-8 didn't care and got better mileage with mid grade at any station. My Acura TL runs great on any gas and the mileage doesnt seem to be any different as long as I stick to premium.

JMO but based on a trip I took in August to visit Yellowstone, Glacier and Canada's Jasper National Park, I'm not convinced that it really matters what brand of gasoline one uses as long as it's uncontaminated and meets the octane requirements set forth by the auto manufacturer. Here's a quick summary upon which I based this conclusion. BTW, I was surprised at how good the MPG turned out since I tried to avoid the freeways (much more fun/interesting driving on secondary roads IMO) and the trip involved traversing the US and Canadian Rockies several times. Anyway, JMO.
