how much power does your car make? i coulld barely clear 150 in a 997 gt3 at monticello. assuming you have tires in stock diameter, 5th gear redlines at roughly 160mph

That speed makes sense... My Trans Am was a limited to about 175-180 by drag and it had a lot more power than this.
My Trans Am was limited to @168mph via drag. It was a 2001 WS6 6-speed and those test numbers are from several sources as well as a very accurate electronic calculator that takes rolling and drag C/O and powerband into consideration backing them up almost spot-on.

It was a 2001 WS6.

The powerband and gearing of the 370Z along with the slipprier C/O should allow a very similar top speed.

I am taking the time to model a top-speed calculation for the 370Z using dyno-charts I have found on this site. Taken into account will be: power (torque) at every 500rpm range from a dyno graph I find here, (drive-wheel torque over the RPM band). Drivetrain ratios: gear ratios, differential ratio, and tire size. Parasitic loss from: vehicle weight, drag coefficient, frontal area and driver weight

Give me a few.

Okay, I calculated it all out. I got 168mph using the GT-R's 22.5 sq ft frontal area (couldn't find one for the 370Z, this dyno here:
http://www.the370z.com/attachments/n..._baseline2.jpg

to plot the points, and 3300# + a 175# driver.

using 500ms shift points, I calculated that this car should run 30-120mh in 16.4 seconds. Car and driver tested a 370Z to run this in 16.35 seconds. Therefor, I am of the opinion that this calculation has a VERY small margin of error that is likely smaller than the variance from car to car. Here is my data, and here is a C&D test-sheet for you to check it against:

http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...61a7a3bb51.pdf

*You will note that the whp/wtq displayed is not IDENTICAL to the graph I took it from. This is because I did not agonize over dragging the dots exactly as they were on the dyno. They are off by 1-3# of torque I am sure, as this program allows me only to drag dots, not manually input rpm/power data. However, the horsepower in my data was calculated from the torque, and only being off by a few whp, it is good enough to make me happy considering it is calculated at 5250 and the dyno I took this data from did not have an rpm/tq readout as you can see. In other words: The variance of the data is less than car to car, but I am explaining why it is there.

Thanks! I just wanted to see if my 168mph guess was correct. It was closer than I thought

Besides, this thread had gone on for 4 pages with no answer. Meh.

well you could of hop in the z car and hit the vacant stretch!

with the limiter off I'm sure a base 370z could see those speeds...it'd take forever but it make it.

350z's the limiter is 158mph

As others have mentioned its electronically limited to 155 MPH. I can also say this from experience.

An 04.5 is a 2004 model year 350Z made during the second half of the year. I think some people felt they were higher performing due to weight and higher peak torque numbers. I owned one and it was a base model with Nismo catback exhaust. Not sure what he means by "FLAWLESS". I thought mine had some flaws and was not nearly as good or as fast as my stock 2009 370Z 7AT w/ Sport Package.

Limited electronically. I was the first ECU reflashed car in the country basically and that was one of the first things changed (removed).

Now as far as what this car is actually "drag" limited to... I don't know. Even with mods and putting down 315 to the rear wheels, it takes a bit to get to 140 even. 160 sounds doable but over 170? IDK about that... Of course with forced induction that is another story.

Hmmm really. From 60mph, I feel like I can get to 140mph very quickly. My car seems to Rev up past 120mph very fast. From 0 it doesn't take too long either. I seem to reach 100mph extremely fast from 0 and then the next forty are progressively gradual. In other words I don't feel like I'm lagging to get to 140mph. Maybe its because I have a 7AT? But once I hit 140mph, then things seem to slow down a lot more.

Well this is coming from a banked straight so I guess it feels more sluggish to get to 140. Actually, let me clarify. From 120 to 140 seems to take a bit longer than I would like but I guess all told, I am covering that span in about 2 or 3 seconds and an 8th of a mile??

Haha... when I put it that way, I guess it's not so bad!

About drag limit. It is a little bit strange to me. Here are few facts:

Audi TT mk2 (second generation):
Drag coefficient 0.30
2.0TFSI FWD S-line - 2889 lbs curb weight - 200HP
my top speed was 280+ km/h on tachymeter (272 km/h by Garmin GPS) on long straight on Autobahn with grippy tyres, but traction control since 260 was blinking
Tyres - 245/40/18" (in S-line, basic were 225/50/16")

3.2 VR6 quattro with 3250 lbs (3262 lbs for S-tronic) curb weight - 250HP
electronically limited top speed to 250 km/h
Tyres - standard 225/44/17"

TTRS 2012 MT - 3306 lbs - 360HP
Drag coefficient 0.32
Top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h or 280 km/h (option with Carbon Air Box). BTW: 0-62 in 4.1s in 2012 version!
Tyres - 245/40/18" - Height is 10mm lower than standard TT

370Z 3232 lbs curb weight - 328 HP (in Europe)
Drag coefficient 0.29 in sport package thanks to chin spoiler and rear wing
(0.30 in BASE)
Top speed 250 km/h - why not higher without el. limiter?
