OUCH! Dent on my fender Beware of Dent-Tech's using this tool on your paint!
On 9/1 I had the 3M clear bra installed, on 9/2 my bike fell on my car while i was backing into my 1 car garage.... yea anyway so then i had a very experienced dent removal tech come out the next day to fix it.. He placed a suction cup tool on the fender.. i guess it is this thing to help decrease glare from the sun.. first it was directly on the paint.. then he placed it on the 3M bra.. it left a stain on BOTH the paint and the bra. on the paint he was able to wet sand and buff it out (still needs to be polished and buffed some more). I think this helps prove that Nissan's paint is not up to par...Now he said he has never seen the suction cup leave a stain on paint in his 10 years of dent removal, and I believe him He put it on his truck and another car and it left nothing. He wanted to give me a full refund and offered to pay for any and all damages including gas money for my long trip back to the clear bra installer. but i only took half...because he had been working on the car in the hot FL sun for 2 hours. so here are my pics in order of the events in my story...
clear bra install Dent right front fender..thank God it wasn't on the body line... Dude fixing the dent.. notice the tool i referred to.. STAIN on clear bra!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the one on the paint was just the same... one high res pic So everything is taken care of now, i just need to buff out the spot where the stain was on the paint since the dent guy didn't get it to perfection; however he was working with a injured shoulder. so To sum it up.. if this happens to you, Beware of the suction cup tool on Nissan's Soft Paint.. Don't you think if there was something wrong with the nissan paint then the clearbra shouldn't be stained? Since the stain is on top of the clearbra??

Already done.
um.. 2 stains.. one was on the paint further back than the one pictured. it was where the dent guy had the tool in the pic where he is working on the car. that one was wet sanded/buffed. the one on the bra did not go through the paint. The stain that was on the paint looked just like the one on the bra. i hope that answered your question, but in other words i did not get a pic of the stain on the paint itself before it was buffed out. |

I think what everyone is trying to say is that if it left a stain on the clear bra AND your paint, then the suction cup is probably to blame not the Nissan's crappy paint. Still, whatever mark it left should have wiped right off, strange...

that helps!.... well he has never placed it on a clear bra before and i can somewhat understand a strong suction cup like that staining the 3m material, but not the paint.. and it was placed on the paint first. so why would it not do the same to the other two cars?
All i'm saying is if you need this done, maybe have the dent-tech try a test run the paint. on second thought.. don't get any dents or dings on your car! [knocks on wood for everyone...] Last edited by Danny3.7; 09-05-2009 at 09:42 PM. |

That ain't no paint problem. I had 2 dents taken out of my 370Z using both suction cups and rods. The suction cups never left any kind of residual mark whatsoever. That is this guy's suction cup problem.
Get some surface cleaner / preparation spray at the auto store that is used to remove all contaminants off a surface prior to painting it. Spray it on and wait about 30 seconds and those rings will come right off without a problem. Then call the dent guy and inform him about the prep spray and advise him to clean the suction cup with it as well. |

looks like the rubber oil residue from the suction cup has embedded itself in the clear bra. Was it hot out when he did the work? Try some Goo Gone from office depot, if that doesn't work you will probably have to replace that section of the clear bra. Goo Gone 8 Oz by Office Depot

$60 but he gave me $30 back and offered to give me a full refund and pay for any damages and repair bills, even gas $. being that he spent two hours total on it i felt bad taking it all back so i only took half. I mean the dent came out flawlessly. Quote:
