Minor thing...gas cap tether

Gas cap tether - anyone remove it? I've found that if you use the little built in loop for it and hang it off the fuel door, it still hits

I've found that if you use the little built in loop for it and hang it off the fuel door, it still hits the fender - eventually that spot will become an eyesore (black car...) - so, anyone removed it? Minor gripe, just wondering if I'm being overboard about it...like everything else
