Geez, I hate this comparison, yes the auto in the Z is good, but it is not a F1. Stop using the comparison that because F1 is using it that it clearly makes the Z auto that much better.

Here's a lil factoid bout formula 1 cars
Formula 1 cars have top engineers designing new tech on a constant basis. This is what makes formula1 so expensive. The most successful of this technology is trickled down into production cars. R&d is furthered to make this tech cheaper yet good enough for daily use in production cars. So this auto may be formula 1 of 10 years ago??? But its still tech from the formula 1. So get over it.
U guys act like your crap slap manuals are the same manuals used in racing. Lol.
No, its a stripped crapped cheapened version of a true racing manual. Why not just ask nissan for a car with no tranny and build a true racing manual?

So in the end, its preference. And snyde comments like yours can go both ways.
1 to grow on.

I LUV THE 7AT!

Do not argue trickle theory to me, in real world it is actually not true.
Yes, what they do will slowly move to other car manufactures, but at the same time Nissan still has to invest its own millions to make their own. Why? Because F1 owners are not going to just pass along the millions of dollars worth of plans to others.

Point of note, I almost bought the 7AT, only reason, I wanted to test SRM with a manual and I really want a double clutch before I jump on the auto/manual.

FYI, Nissan already has a dual clutch tranny....it costs about $20,000.

Is that because it has more carbon fiber and titanium???

You would be closer in saying that the gearbox/paddle shifters are inspired by formula one rather than saying its old F1 tech.

I guess I should add, I want the DCT in the Z, would love a GT-R but do not need that car at my age.

True racing manual? You talking about a sequential transmission? I don't think any of us are confusing that with ours...I mean, that's a pretty long shot.

What's a crap slap manual?

Actually I would say that the 6 speed manual in the sport package Z is probably one of the best, SRM is a huge benefit. The only issue so far has been some grinding on probably <1% of cars which Nissan is trading out for free for people.

Of course it is not a sequential transmission, but I do not need that on the street.

Preaching to the choir there buddy

I'm just curious if he's expecting future cars to have sequential manuals instead of the classic gate configuration...

Nissan Z370 7-speed AT is awsome. BUT 6 speed MT is my choice because its a pain to find AT in 3rd world countries | EU. Nice to know how to drive manual.

True story, a buddy of mine said he could drive MT and wanted to drive my new Z I was about to and he looked in and asked "why you have 3 pedals?" I realized his BMW Z4 was AT with manual shift option.
