I was just about to post this vid.
Sweet tech... not sure how often I'd use it though since I've been rev matching every manual I've owned.

Ah, a SynchroRev video with SOUND, thanks. It's neat to see and hear the car matching revs like that.
I was driving the old Miata home tonight (rev matching everywhere as usual) and thinking about the 370Z system. |

Yeah... I might use it at first, but I think I'll be over it fast and I'll just like rev-matching the old fashioned way.

The transmission doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the revmatching system, actually. The tranny itself is just a normal every day tranny (although I hear it's a bit stronger than the 350z trans - but that could be just rumor) however, there are the sensors at the level mechanisms that watch where your shifter is... Then it tells the ECU to open the throttal body in anticipation. If anything it will make your transmission last LONGER than you'd normally get from a tranny.

yeah I saw the video about how it worked. I was wondering about the sensors, not the tranny itself. sensors can go bad after awhile just like any other component. When a sensor goes bad on this system what will it take to replace? Will you have to drop the tranny or pull apart the interior? Will you have to replace one lil sensor or the whole system? is it cheap or expensive? etc etc.

Likely, you'll have to drop the tranny. From the diagrams, it doesn't look like the sensor pack is inside the interior (which makes sense, especially to keep all the important components centralized), which I imagine the sensors would be cheap, but the labor would be a bundle.
Sensors don't necessarily have short life-spans. I have a 20 year old car and 90% of the sensors are original. Hell, I've even seen O2 sensors last more than 10 years and those get seriously messed up easily. I won't worry about it. If in the first year or two the sensors don't go bad, than they're likely not to go bad for a long while without a 3rd party physically affecting them. (i.e. car crash or bottoming out) But if they do go out early, it's likely that Nissan will see they're defective and do a recall on the sensors. It would cost them a LOT in warranty work not to.
