Default Would you purchase an "active" rear spoiler?

Hey everyone:

So I'm driving home last Friday and I see this "different" Mini going down the highway. Unlike other Mini's that look like a small football helmet moving down the road, this one has a lower profile and then I see this coming out of the trunk area. Watch for about 20 seconds and you'll see how it's activated/deactivated according to the car speed of 50 mph, similar to certain Porsches.

Which made me wonder...if an active rear spoiler was a 370z option from (1) Nissan or (2) after-market vendor for around 1K, would you buy it? (I think it would have to be 1K as it would require a completely different hatch for the coupe or different trunk for the roadster which had the mechanism built-in.

So...would you do it?

Question is why? What purpose could it possibly serve at speeds under 100mph? Its a gimmick for people who know nothing about aerodynamics and just want to have something "cool". There is a time and a place for a active rear spoiler and our cars is not it. I would be more inclined to spend money on decreasing the drag of the car instead of increasing drag to create downforce.

IMO of course.

What good would it do? I'd pay for it if it yielded a handling advantage for every-day driving, but I don't see it.

They do make one for our cars! It's for he racing folk, better traction and better braking distance.
If I had $4k laying around for my car I would def buy one, but good thing is this one you can buy the cheaper static wing then upgrade later to the dynamic module.

Products R Dynamic

For a DD, it's just bling ... unless you DD at 80+ mph. Otherwise, I'd consider it a track-only thing.

If there is a wing that lowers down to something more like a spoiler, then yes. It'd need the travel of the Veyron or P1's though, for me to consider. Not something like porsches' or the crossfire's active spoiler. I actually do want additional downforce in the rear sometimes but don't want a large wing, since I also commute in my car.
Id pay $2000+ if it also went vertical under braking. Probably only up to $1500 if it couldn't change angles (only raise and lower).
Haven't seen anything aftermarket that did any more than change angle of attack though, so I'd be surprised if anything that lowered several inches comes out for the Z.

If you're going to go active-aero (which is against rules in some classes, or might cost you points), you may as well go all the way and get a split setup

When I looked into aero motions I didn't see an application for the 370z for that wing only the gtr. That would be pretty bad ***. I've heard nothing but great things on it. I suppose it could work but I don't know if the height would work for us though. They could probably make it to order but would be even more expensive.

I'm just going to buy a super car with one, and an air brake (aka speed brake).

Go big or go home, right?

Why does a mini even require a active spoiler?

1) Stick hand* out window, palm down.
2) To generate downforce for extreme speeds, rotate hand clockwise.
3) For emergency braking, rotate hand counter clockwise.
4) To leap debris, flap madly.
5) When passing MILFS, rotate palm 90° counter clockwise, extend thumb, honk, then wink. If velocity < 45 mph, yell "hey baby."
6) Send 50% of the money you saved to H2O_Doc.

For best results, use hand nearest driver's window (left hand for 'Muricans and right hand for Crumpet Monkeys and Aussies). Said foreigners might need to invert rotation directions.
