2014 370z Sport only 11 mpg
Hi guys, I am driving a 2014 370z Auto with Sport package, the car now has 1600 miles, I'm driving the car daily pure local with a lot of stops, I'm not pushing the car so hard, it usually shift around 3-4k rpm, shift at 7500 rpm for a couple times maybe. I just filled my tank yesterday and it was 13.082 gal and it ran 142.5 miles. so it has only 10.89 MPG...not even 11......I'm wondering if this is normal? should I drive to the dealer and ask them to check? Please advise:bowdown: thanks a lot.

i would try driving on hwy at 50-55mph constant for 10-20miles to see how the mpg is affected. if it still doesnt improve i would say take your car to the dealer.
chances are, you're a tad heavy foot and just enjoying your new car while the car is breaking in. |
Not normal at all. I wouldn't go to the dealer just yet though. Give it a few more tanks so you can get an average.
|
have you been resetting your mpg at each refill? if not you will get a running total versus each tank mpg and that will be way off. plus if you do a bunch of city driving at low miles it will be low as well. go take a long drive on the highway like suggested.

Use the display for average fuel economy too. Compare that to what your tank fill technique is telling you.

I was driving like an old lady for the first 1200 miles, I thought only the first 1200 miles are the break in period? BTW, the computer says the average speed is like 16 mph, too slow?

depends on how long you are idling for at stoplights, traffic, how heavy your foot is, your shifting patter as far as how long you linger in a gear at medium revs. That is actually how you should be calculating your mpg. I drove from palmdale, ca to las vegas, nv in Jan. I filled up and drove up hwy14 to the 15. I avg'd 28mpg up and 26.5 on the way back. Had I not drove around in Vegas I would have gotten approx 520miles on a tank and had almost half a tank left. Hope this puts it into perspective.

It's probably a combination of things. You're driving in low gears at medium rpm, lots of stop and go, a new car breaking in, etc. Make sure your tires are inflated enough. Try shifting under 3k rpm.

This thread is a downer. Here I am just sitting here waiting for snow to melt so I can get the best 6mpg of my life while I try and get my fix before the next snowfall.
*shoulda bought a prius* lol. :D It does seem very low for stock though, something is not right. Can you hear any exhaust leaks perhaps? |

Sounds like you're driving in NYC or any other big city. Frequent stop and go along with low speeds = terrible gas mileage.
