Why are you comparing two different vehicles? Are they geared the same? Are they tuned the same? Does he shift at 4k rpm?

hmmm...make sense...

The conditions you're describing are the worst possible combination for getting good gas mileage. Your commute isn't even long enough to get the car warmed up.

part of that post was a joke.

but the other part is that the corolla's first gear is geared pretty low for quick take offs.

and i know cause i made the mistake of owning one long time ago...well, i bought it for the wife to use, but anyway, i paid for it cash even.

if it makes you feel any better, my G35C gets about 13-15mpg on my daily commute. in bumper to bumper and low speed traffic, that's pretty normal for these cars. once i start hitting hwy then i can get about 18-20mpg. my Z gets about 19-22 average depnding on how i drive on the weekends (very light traffic)

Riptide67 03-13-2014 02:49 PM

I get 25 on avg out on the highway...in the town 12-14. but my car doesnt go much over 35mph on the way to work, lmao.

Can't wait to get my new DD 240sx this weekend!

It does make me feel better, lol. but, yea, I just want to make sure if there is anything wrong with my new car, so it sounds like it is normal, I will live with that :) I know a 370z is not for MPG. so at what RPM u guys usually shift while normal driving? below 3k?

nice~!:icon18:

Chuck33079 03-13-2014 02:58 PM

If you're trying to get good gas mileage, keep the revs down. Under 3k.

enkei2k 03-13-2014 02:58 PM

I average about 14 mpg. 100% city driving in NYC so it's as crappy as it gets with the traffic, potholes, etc. I don't care about MPG.

my car is MT and usually shift 1st around 4K, 2nd maybe 3500, then around 3k after that. it really depends on traffic and the kind of mood i am in. crusing rpm is 1500-2500 depending on if im going up a grade or not.

and yah, i too prefer to enjoy my drive than worry about mpg on my cars.
