I've had my roadster for 9 months now - and only average 11.9. But I sit in LA traffic and it takes me 30-60 minutes to go 6-7 miles. So I attribute it to that. My 2012 EX35 with 20's, my 2011 G37S Coupe with 19's, my 2011 Maxima with 19's, and my 2008 G35S sedan with 19's all did about the same. (Yes - Ive had a lot of Nissan cars lately).
Its the VQ engine and that fact that it's stop and go. But it's a great engine and when I do get on the freeway I get around 25-29 at 70. The tick tick is normal for the VQ - should be very very faint. I've had it on all of them. Used to drive me nuts but I just gave up on thinking it was a problem. |

I personally believe shifting at 3k~4k is a bit high. And I'm willing to bet your foot is heavy on the pedal. You should shift under 3k with easier acceleration and throttle.

take it out on a stretch on a weekend. you're going to prematurely kill the battery too unless you put a tender on it. like my first post, drive 10-15miles at hwy speeds and see where you mpg goes. GL! |
New car, 4 mile commute, the car never getting out of cold start enrichment, shifting at 4k. Honestly, 11 sounds about right.
