No. That's not an exhaust leak if the car's not running.

So whats that noise? It is somewhere under the chassis I think. And how does an exhaust leak sound like?

I've had my roadster for 9 months now - and only average 11.9. But I sit in LA traffic and it takes me 30-60 minutes to go 6-7 miles. So I attribute it to that. My 2012 EX35 with 20's, my 2011 G37S Coupe with 19's, my 2011 Maxima with 19's, and my 2008 G35S sedan with 19's all did about the same. (Yes - Ive had a lot of Nissan cars lately).

Its the VQ engine and that fact that it's stop and go. But it's a great engine and when I do get on the freeway I get around 25-29 at 70.

The tick tick is normal for the VQ - should be very very faint. I've had it on all of them. Used to drive me nuts but I just gave up on thinking it was a problem.

That's just the noises a hot car makes when it's cooling down. In order for an exhaust leak to be happening, the car has to be running.

Sounds like you're driving in NYC or any other big city. Frequent stop and go along with low speeds = terrible gas mileage.

I'm in Houston, I drive like 4 miles from home to work and another 4 miles back every day...speed limit 30-35 mph...5 stops for 1 way...

manufacture list 18mpg, if im getting like 15-16, i wont complain...but 11...makes me want to know if something is wrong...

Is the car even getting up to temp? When it's cold the ECU adds fuel.

I can hear tick tick tick sound after I park the car, is that the exhaust leaks noise?

thats normal, expecially on new car. your mid pipe and or heat shield is making that noise from expansion contraction.

I personally believe shifting at 3k~4k is a bit high. And I'm willing to bet your foot is heavy on the pedal. You should shift under 3k with easier acceleration and throttle.

there you go. that's too short and speed too low.

take it out on a stretch on a weekend. you're going to prematurely kill the battery too unless you put a tender on it.
like my first post, drive 10-15miles at hwy speeds and see where you mpg goes. GL!

New car, 4 mile commute, the car never getting out of cold start enrichment, shifting at 4k. Honestly, 11 sounds about right.

I have done that for the first 1200 miles. if i shift under 3k, a corolla runs faster than me ...:eekdance:

Why are you comparing two different vehicles? Are they geared the same? Are they tuned the same? Does he shift at 4k rpm?
