rhino ramps

So I decided to try out these ramps I bought on an oil change before I wrench on the exhaust when my FI comes in. #921 btw. I had to build a step with two 1x4's so it would clear the front end. No big deal there. But anyone who has used these knows that the pathetic little piece of rubber that's supposed to keep it from sliding is a joke. After bracing them against the rear of my garage with a couple pieces of wood they actually worked well for the 50 bucks I invested. Well worth it but beware.

yeah, I think some members here put floor mats under the ramps to keep them from sliding.

I haven't experienced the sliding myself personally though.

I just jack up each side and slide the ramps under the tires.

Same here, except in the rear I jack up both sides from the differential

I was thinking about purchasing the rhino ramp as well. Did you have to jack the car up in the rear as well? How convenient was the oil change?

i made an extension out of oak for my rhino ramps. no sliding issues for me.

pictures of that also gone.

I've had mine for almost 4 years now. I put a small deck board just before the ramp to help with the 370 and other vehicles that are low. Good ramps!

Mine slide, I have to prop them against something solid if I don't want them to move. Probably has to do with the surface of the floor if it will stick properly or not.

on my stock height Z, i could just roll back and up the ramp without extensions.

but all my 4 cars require extensions for the front... which is a pita but oh well. :ugh:
if you do make extensions, besure to bolt them down to the ramps so that it does not separate while you go up the ramp.

that was also highlighted on my pictures but oh well.

I've got them, sometimes they slip sometimes they don't when I try to pull onto them. I like them overall though. Thing I have found is that if you have a smooth shiny cement floor with oil on it, these things slip. If you have an etched or finished/epoxy floor with some grip they do OK.

kenchan 03-12-2014 11:37 AM

yah, i have no issue with the ramps slipping...with or without my extensions.

Justice97 03-12-2014 12:31 PM

same ramps no issues
But I did use a 2x12x 12 cut block to clear the lip.

Work great. I get to use them again at the end of the month.

Kinda defeats the purpose of a ramp no? I've done it once and its a little sketchy because once the suspension is loaded it sits different than when the wheels are in the air. The ramps end up moving several inches and the toe angle changes so driving off isn't straight.

I have no slipping issues and I have to use 2x4's to clear.

They work fine for oil changes. I had an issue with them sliding on the hard, slick concrete garage floor. I put some pieces of old, rubber backed bath mat under them and solved the problem. Get them in place nice and straight and kick them a few times to wedge them under the tires before starting to roll up on them. And be fast on your footwork so you don't go too fast and over the end of them !
