Buy the 2014 370z or wait for the 2015?

I'm buying a 2014 370z tomorrow and I'm not the type that needs the latest year for the SAME MODEL. Yet, the 2015 Z is supposed to be completely redesigned.

Default Buy the 2014 370z or wait for the 2015?

I'm buying a 2014 370z tomorrow and I'm not the type that needs the latest year for the SAME MODEL. Yet, the 2015 Z is supposed to be completely redesigned. I know there hasn't been an official announcement on the 2015 model, but I don't want an 4 cylinder with turbo or electric or a hybrid.

I'm thinking about just waiting on buying a 2014 and leasing one and waiting for the announcement of the 2015.

What do you guys think? What would you do?

Either way, unless you need to buy a car NOW, I'd wait.

The coming of the Z35, whether better or worse than the current model (but unlikely to be worse...), the Z34 will be significantly cheaper than it is right now.

As understand it so far in 2015, the Nismo is getting an Automatic, and Maximum is being redesigned. I know there has not been any official release and car critiques are saying Nissan will do something. One thing is true when or if they announce the 15. If u like it u will be in good shape to get it. If not I am sure u can find a 14 Z instead.

Maxima isn't going to come out to the 16 model year per Ghosn and the new Z will probably as well.. These two will be some of the longest production run Nissan cars in America for a while. The G Sedan has them both beat though by 2 years as it stands today.

The A36 Maxima should be here this fall as a 2015 model. Right now the update cycle looks like:

2015 Juke Facelift - Spring 2014
2015 (Gen III) Murano - Spring/Summer 2014
2015 (Gen VIII) Maxima - Fall 2014
2016 Titan - Spring/Summer/Fall 2015

No word on the Z yet, Nissan has been incredibly tight-lipped about it but many signs seem to point toward a FI inline-4.

At the risk of offending the three pedal orthodoxy... good.

In the Land of the Rising Sun, the Nismo ALWAYS had the 7AT option...

Given the difference in price point, it probably would not have affected my own actions as a rat-race running consumer, but given how well the 7AT performs, I don't see why it shouldn't be (or, more to the point, "have already been") offered as an option, especially if the manufacturer already went through the trouble of building it...

So are you really buying it tomorrow or no? First sentence sounds like you're dead set on it, but then later you say you're waiting on it.

If it were me, I'd wait and see what happens.

I walked into a dealership around 8pm last night. Negotiated the price and agreed. But since I'm a first time buyer, I wasn't instantly approved through Nissan financing. My application required further review from their department. Normally I would say that's dealer BS but I did walk in an hour before closing and I am a first time buyer. I agreed on a down payment and APR that the Instore finance department figured I can obtain.

So after getting home without my new Z, I came onto the forum and saw a post about the 2015...basically it got me thinking. I really want to wait for the 2015 and I still really want the 2014. can't have both and I really do need a car.

Sounds like your decision has been made. As far as leasing vs buying? If it was me, I'd buy. If the new Z turns out to be substantially better, pick it up later.

Not sure about the financial aspects but it sounds like a two year lease is your best bet. You'll not want the first year of a new generation anyway. Let them work out the kinks.

OP- similar position here. Love to have a Z, love the current one, but am curious about the new one. My thought is, as another poster suggested, to get an '11 or '12, which has already taken the first big deprecation hit, drive it for the year or two that it will take for the new one to come out. If I love the new one, then I'd be selling the 11 or 12 model still under warranty and before it takes its next big depreciation hit, when the warranty expires. But, if I don't like the new one enough to get it, and if I still wanted a brand new current model Z for the long haul, then I could still get a new "left over" current model before they're all gone, and at a time when they'll probably be discounted even more to make room for the new model. May not make sense for everyone but that's my strategy, for what it's worth.
Good luck with the decision.

I don't know of or have seen any real information on a new Z in 15...and someone show the source of this? I follow a ton of mags and cars both US and EU....
