I'm buying a 2014 370z tomorrow and I'm not the type that needs the latest year for the SAME MODEL. Yet, the 2015 Z is supposed to be completely redesigned.

Buy the 2014 370z or wait for the 2015?
I'm buying a 2014 370z tomorrow and I'm not the type that needs the latest year for the SAME MODEL. Yet, the 2015 Z is supposed to be completely redesigned. I know there hasn't been an official announcement on the 2015 model, but I don't want an 4 cylinder with turbo or electric or a hybrid.
I'm thinking about just waiting on buying a 2014 and leasing one and waiting for the announcement of the 2015. What do you guys think? What would you do? Last edited by Supermade; 03-07-2014 at 03:03 AM. |

Either way, unless you need to buy a car NOW, I'd wait.
The coming of the Z35, whether better or worse than the current model (but unlikely to be worse...), the Z34 will be significantly cheaper than it is right now.

As understand it so far in 2015, the Nismo is getting an Automatic, and Maximum is being redesigned. I know there has not been any official release and car critiques are saying Nissan will do something. One thing is true when or if they announce the 15. If u like it u will be in good shape to get it. If not I am sure u can find a 14 Z instead.

There's one guy here who claims to work for Nissan. When asked for a link he provided the login screen for the employee lease program. I'll believe it when I see it as an official release. We've had so many people here who "knew a guy who said" this, that or the other.

Yes - and we have not seen any spyshots, testing shot or vids, etc...and while Nissan is typically good about not leaking those until it's almost production ready - this would be the typical time period when they start surfacing.
In my mind the next change would be a 2016 model year - available sometime in mid to late 2015. |

I'm echoing here but I would wait as well, it would be a shame to get the '14, then see the '15 and regretting the purchase you made.

Yes I'm actually buying th car today and yet, the point of this thread is that I'm having second thoughts. One thing I did not take into consideration is the cost of the 2015 model. I'm sure most of us will be its set around $38k before TTL. That's significantly more than I even want to pay for a Z.
Maybe I'll go with a lease? And basically I do need a car now. My Frontier took a crap on me. I think either way I'll regret a decision because of the position I'm in. If I wait for the 2015, I'll be reluctant to pay a significant amount more than my current offer. And if I get the 2014..well we know the regret in that. Lease or purchase..hmm |

So after getting home without my new Z, I came onto the forum and saw a post about the 2015...basically it got me thinking. I really want to wait for the 2015 and I still really want the 2014. can't have both and I really do need a car. Last edited by Supermade; 03-07-2014 at 11:38 AM. |

Sounds like your decision has been made. As far as leasing vs buying? If it was me, I'd buy. If the new Z turns out to be substantially better, pick it up later.

I know this wasn't an option it the topic but why buy a 2014 model if you want to wait for a new model? Wouldn't it be better to find a low mileage 2011-2013 and save the money compared to the 2014 model so in case you end up wanting the new model you wouldn't suffer such a bad financial damage. Or are they so rare there that you can't find a good used one (don't know how these things go in there)?
But since I'm new with my Z and so far love it I'd say take the 2014 model home if you need a car now. Great cars for the money. |
