370z problems

Hi I'm new to this 370 forum... I joined this to hear some feed back or possible solutions on what hard times my 370 has given me.. sweet car tho.

So i got the engine replaced under warranty about 2 months ago, Bought the car used and it was burning oil and a main bearing spun in it.... so all in all, got a new motor put in it( short block) and they re-used the heads because of them being within spec... anyways started to break it in and ive been getting random CEL for Mass air flow, Air and fuel Ratio also the worst one is VVEL acutator with that fault code logged into ecm car will not go over 5km an hour... So brought it back to the nissan dealer and they told me it needed that part which is 1,800 I thought it was fishy because it never had this issue before, I was thinking maybe the mechanic did not program something correctly or if it could be something really little... I've been diagnosing the car myself so any pointers would help lots!

PM DE.50 If he doesn't reply, PM him again in 5 minutes. Rinse repeat until his inbox is jammed.

I would say text him every 30 seconds. If that doesnt work call him every 10sec. If that doesn't work, show up to his job and stare at him from outside his window until he has to confront you due to his fellow employees getting freaked out.

if that doesnt work...

kiss him. That always gets his attention. :ugh2:

^he did call me, and the OP STILL hasn't!

Japanjay 02-21-2014 12:05 AM

The VVEL actuator was more than likely broke by the tech. Not a big deal, from what I have heard it is actually common that they get broken on removal. The other issue regarding the mass A/F, not sure on that one outside of dirty sensor?

7speed 02-21-2014 08:18 AM

Maybe I need to call DE...... I have a rubbing noise coming from driver rear wheel area that's baffling the dealership... My husband works for nissan out here and literally takes it to work and gets in on a rack to check it out.... Can't figure it out. Rubbing or like something scraping on brake type sound yet no visible evidence of rubbing... Sound correlates with speed car moves at. It's not intermittent but rather constant. I need to take a short video clip.....

Make sure your lug nuts are all tight, and what side is scraping? Both?

SgtGoldy 02-23-2014 08:54 AM

We need to make a thread called:

Better Call DE!

 It will literally encompass anything people need to ask DE.50. And of course a **** ton of people saying, "Call DE."

I just checked them and they are all torqued down. It's just drivers rear. I'll post a video ASAP.

I think I know your problem, lol
Axle click maybe? Or shot bearing?

Not a clicking type noise... bearing is a possibility. I think I need to just drive it down to his work on my day off and make him deal with the problem. :shakes head: Me thinks he just likes driving my car and therefore tells me he will get it on a lift to resolve the issue, but really just takes it to work to enjoy the :driving:

alphajam 02-23-2014 12:29 PM

I had the same type of noise I think you're describing on my G. It was a wheel bearing.
