When this was discussed before we came to the conclusion that there were two different high pitched noises. The one I hear comes from the engine compartment and can be heard with the ignition on and the engine not running. Interestingly, if you put the MT in neutral (again with the engine not running) the noise stops.

I suppose mine does the same thing but I can't hear it due to the voices in my head...

Wait..what was that? Steal Tony's car? Yes..ok...

In all honesty....either I cant hear in that range or my car doesn't do it.

I drove 3 other Z's on the lot and the noise was not happening in them. This is not the noise most people hear that is coming from the engine. I spoke to Nissan directly today and they said they are well aware of the issue but have no idea how to remedy the problem.

I have already contacted an attorney who is working with me to remedy this situation.

Don't know if my car makes this noise or not. I hear a high pitched noise all the time...it's called tinnitus. LOL.

This is not a noise you can ignore, you'll know if you have it. The 2 people at the dealer that could not hear it was the service manager who said he plays drums all the time and the head technician who was an old guy in his 50s+. As soon as they got a person in the car who didn't spend their life rocking out or still had their hearing heard the noise imminently.

Actually, it is ignorable. I notice it every time I start up and have my car running before moving...then I'm focusing on backing out of my garage without taking the driver's mirror off, or, hitting my truck parked on the right side of my driveway, or my car after that, and not getting slammed by someone on my street, while avoiding the truck parked across my driveway that belongs to my neighbor, while also avoiding my mailbox on the driver's side corner, as well as backing out such that I miss the curb and no scrape the nose of my Z.

After backing out, I pull forward to the stop sign, usually hang a right and I'm going fast enough the white noise generated from the tires, masks the high pitched sound. I turn on/up my music - and I can't hear anything else

I have a microphone (several, actually), and some long cables, and could PROBABLY use my recording software to find out what frequency it is, and perhaps use one of the mics to help locate it...lol

Might be a project worth doing - lol...

Ok so you are willing to make excuses and find a reason to ignore it, I refuse to. I paid good money for a car to operate without me having to make a decision to ignore a problem. Nissan knows this is an issue and if more people would stop accepting it because they just have a hardon for the car and make Nissan fix it you wouldn't have to ignore a problem anymore.

That's precisely what should be done! Stick to you guns Roo, don't accept dissatisfaction!

I spoke to 800-Nissan1 and verified the information. I requested a letter be sent out to me stating that and they said ok. I'll post it when I receive it.
