We asked DPS about what appears to be quotas set out in the memo.

Arizona DPS Spokesperson Officer Tim Case insists they are not quotas.

Officer Case calls the requirements performance standards and says that it's just a way the department has to make sure officers are doing their jobs.

They may be illegal but are an unwritten rule. My friend went to the road and eventually got on a motorcycle. He told me he has to write 50 tickets a week or they will pull him off the bike. It's about revenue folks, there are quotas...believe it. Maybe not every department but most big cities. The economy sucks and tax revenue is down, gotta pay the bills somehow.

Is there a difference between Quotas and "Productivity Standards?"

It does not matter how many times you change lanes. its all in the matter of how you change lanes. I.E. speed, cutting off other vehicles, useing your blinker. I was an *** and was looking for a reason to pull you over. D**** like that give me and other fellow good cops a bad name...

Since there is a huge amount of people that have some king of warrant on them LE will pull over a car when there is a "violation" to check for warrants and then let you go when you're cleared with a warning...kinda like fishing. Every day I become more and more libertarian and would find it difficult to do anything but drive around in circles if I went to the road. Legalized extortion isn't something I can do for a living and go home at night and sleep. Don't get me wrong...there is a need for LE but taking food off of their tables for not having a seat belt on is theft and is a violation of your oath. My

If you change lanes often, regardless of how you change them, it's construed as "aggressive driving".

I got pulled over for it a long time ago in my SRT. Wasn't speeding, wasn't whipping into the next lane, just kind of going through traffic that was going slower than the posted limit.

MCSO said that it's considered aggressive driving and he could cite me for it, but he was on his way home (have gotten the "on the way home" let-off several times ) and to tone it down.

He cannot ticket you legally as he was breaking the law himself (tailgating). If you received a ticket you can fight it and win as they're hardly ever there at the hearing. Also to note, if you get pulled over at night and the cop has a headlight out he cannot ticket you either as he/she is in violation and they cannot enforce what they can't maintain themselves. That has saved me once.

Go to the police station and file a complaint on him. You will be surprised on what will happen and no you wont go to jail and then they know you are serious when you are there writing a statement.
I have done this several times over the years and got major apologies from the brass.

Just to say thanks to an unnamed LEO: I pulled up next to a black charger the other day at an intersection near an entrance ramp to the interstate (didn't know I was next to a LEO). Light turns green and I jump on the throttle (not racing, just didn't want to be behind a dodge getting onto the highway). A lot of nose, some tire spin, and a bit of yaw as the rear end pulled hard to one side. I think I was well within the ticket-able zone. LEO fires up his grill lights and I thought I was toast. I slow down and wait to be pulled over, but it never happens. I think he was just saying "settle down, boy." I think he must have gotten a good laugh at my lack of awareness: all black charger with limo tints should have been at least a hint. I've been lucky; seldom stopped but stops have always been justified.

Anyway, thanks anonymous LEO!

I was driving through campus and flew past a cop doing about 15 over. (It was a 25 which should be a 35). He turned on the blues for 2 seconds and then turned them off. I appreciated the warning!

Exhibition of speed. Def. a ticketable offense.

Sometimes you get lucky and they just kind of warn you.

Or give you the Mutumbo finger wag when you fly onto the freeway from the interchange... and just in case he didn't see you, SRM will match revs even if you throw it into neutral, thus making sure you got the officers attention.
