0-60 in under 4.5sec

Hey guys,
Has anyone built their Z to do 0-60mph in under 4.5 seconds? I'm looking to build a legit Z that can hit 0-60 in the low 4's. Would love to be under 4.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's going to be a tall order on street tires. These cars have issues putting the power down.

Super Werty 01-31-2014 07:19 PM

No but I did do 3.8 in this....

Vk56de + 5 bags of sand in the trunk. I see 3.2 in ur future.

Joepro 01-31-2014 08:16 PM

0-60 is for awd and super car coffee drinkers, my soon to be boosted z will give no $#%^ about 0-60, make it up after traction is gained...in my older age numbers mean less to me, even after im boosted I might run the 1/4 with high 11s on slicks and good driving, but a giy at work has an 11 second neon be built almost for the price of my turbo kit, but guess what, its a neon. My car is going to be quick enough, is fun and has looks to kill, not bashing just advice, get over the numbers game, you will enjoy your car more.

you can photoshop your trap time later too...

use technology to the fullest. :ugh:

Tie it to the back of Super Werty's truck.

You'll have better luck buying a 09-13 WRX. 4.5 from the factory yo.

1) save money used to build z
2) sell z
3) buy gt-r
???
profit

cuz vk56de rhymes with vk56deTT j/k i put the wrong engine name in couldn't remember exactly what it was at that moment.

DavidZ370 01-31-2014 11:38 PM

the AT does 0 to 60 in 4.8-4.6 easy

IDZRVIT 02-01-2014 06:06 AM

Buy a C7 and swap bodies. All the panels may not align but you will easily get under 4.5 seconds. Should be able to accomplish this in a weekend with a pair of pliers if you know what you're doing.

spotlighter 02-01-2014 05:33 PM

I hear ya. I guess that is an obstacle with rear wheel drive. May I ask what you did to your car?

Cmike2780 02-01-2014 05:41 PM

I bet you can get there with swapped gears, some bolt on's, tune and grippy rubber. Kind of a noob question though to be honest.

JWillis72 02-01-2014 06:59 PM

Maybe with drag tires but getting traction in 1st and 2nd is next to impossible when you up the power on street tires. With the supercharger I can leave the VDC on and it pulls power or turn it off and spin the tires but can't find a fast way in first.

My Z can't do it, but the ol' Storm Trooper SRT can run a 4.3 all day long.

Rear wheel drive is not an obstacle - fwd is. The fastest cars at the drag strip are rear wheel drive. There is no reason why the Z can't get better 0-60 times if power, gearing and traction is improved.

Z eliminator 02-02-2014 05:59 PM

Im sure i faster than that
i do 1.80 60 ft's and the 1/8 in 7.97 seconds @ 90.3 mph.
with the help of a lot of bolt ons.
does any body have the formula to calculate 0 to 60 with 1/8 mile times.

Adding more power isn't the only solution, removing weight has benefits all around.

spotlighter 02-03-2014 06:08 PM

That's sweet...what is your quarter mile time and speed?

ajperretta 02-04-2014 01:12 PM

Get some grippy tires and then add some mods.

Wonder if cbe, headers, intake, and tune would be enough? Rear wheel drive cars get low 0-60 times... You just might be at a disadvantage for doing much quicker than low 4s because of gearing. A vette has a good 0-60 time because first gear gets you to 60 and it has plenty of power for that kind of gearing.

Chuck33079 02-04-2014 01:14 PM

It's not a power issue. It's a rear camber issue. When the car squats the rear tires camber in too much and you spin. Correct the camber for the launch and you're running the wrong amount for driving.

I put my 1/8 mile times and speed into the drag racing calculator and it gave me a time of 3.5 seconds. There is an error factor as well 2 or 3 tenths of a second . i would say an honest 3.8 to 3.9. The reason I fell it goes so quick is the 4.08 gears. Can not wait for the stroker engine and the Stage 3 SC.. I will be changing the Diff to 3.57's from a 2003 350 z.
My car is very quick . for traction i run the tires at 17 psig. and ive taken about 240 lb's out of the car as well.

Where specifically did you cut the weight from?
