Temp sensor??
 

Hey all,

I went to see the out side temp, I know for a fact is was around 12F out. My Z is telling me it was 57F outside:icon14:

Does anyone know how and the hell to fix this? or should I take it to the dealer??:tiphat:

Were you driving?
If yes, for how long?
If less than a min, did the temp go up once you drove more?
If yes, the car is ok.


If you answered no to the first question, your car is probably ok too. The temp sensor is behind the bumper and was probably a bit insulated

If the Z is under warranty I'd take it in and let them mess with it. Sensor is behind the bumper...not too hard to get too if you had to replace it yourself.

I was driving the car for about 30min or so, and yes still covered. I just freaking hate dealing with the dealer.... I was wondering if there was a way to reset it.

My Jeep used to do the same thing. It'd keep the last temp read until I drove it a couple of miles and then read accurate. Don't know of any reset procedures unless you want to disco the battery but that can be more asspain then it's worth.

Because of the way the amb temp sensor is constructed, it is very slow to respond.

As others have said, the sensor is in front of the radiator, mounted on the right* side of the center vertical support. You might want to do a visual inspection and make sure the sensor is still mounted to the support - the tabs that hold the sensor to the support broke on mine and the sensor was resting on the radiator, causing high readings. A strip of heavy-duty Velcro fixed it up.


* Your left if looking at the front of the car. Ie, passenger side for a US car.
