oil change light

Hello, has everybody basically quit ester oil after the warranty? Does the 2009 have a dummy light for when to change the oil? I bought mine used and the guy said to change it in 1k miles but said he did it every 3k miles. I would think every 5k for synthetic.

Ester oil

I saw some serious petroleum engineering reports on ester oil a year or so back. So technical it was hard to understand. Basically, 7 to 8% more lubricity with the ester than without. Exactly the same oil with and with out the ester. Nissan oil has it, and Mobil 1. I don't know about any others.
I'm sticking with it , the Mobil 1, and going the full 5000 miles. The quality of the filter is important also. Mobil 1 filter, Pure 1, Bosch. I'll never use a fram again. Check out "bob is the oil guy". It is almost impossible to find any hard independent test on motor oil. Seems strange but it is just not there.
Enjoy you new car. And don't sweat the small stuff.

There is a dummy light with user-adjustable mileage target.

Edit: If you didn't get an owner's manual with the car - http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-o...rs-manual.html

Dummy Lights

Accurate description. I have mine set to Zero. Just gave up on it. Keep your receipt with the mileage written on it, and take care of it.

What, not another oil thread? Anyway, my buds over on the vette forum have some information on oil that is worth the read, I think. See post #5 by 540 RAT. He has done alot of oil testing on his own and is a member of the SAE.
