Factory Back up camera
Nissan is making a back up camera for the 370. It will be a factory acessory as well as an after purchase install as well. Nissan is hoping to release these with the 2010 Z. They will also work for all Z models, not just touring with Nav!!!!

The cost will be affordable, it will be less expensive then trying to fit a G37 kit on a Navi Z. The good thing it's going to be for all Z's! I am guessing a Mirror with a t.v. screen built in....just a guess. They have them for the altima/rouge already. It's pretty cool, looks like a normal review mirror until you put it into reverse then a screen pops up in the right corner.

Hmmmm. I never thought about that. Makes sense only way to do it if it going to work for the non-nav Z's because putting just a screen on the dash would be tacky.
That would mean a different set up for video running from the rear if they installed this on the nav z's or it is wireless maybe. Either way it is all Win |
I hope its not a grand to buy it!
|
Retail will probably close to 600.00 (not installed)
|
Not too shabby. Would like to see how "hidden" it is.
|
600 I can live with! crossing my fingers.
|
something like this would be cool too --> Azentek - SmartMirror SM 450
|
Did I read that right it's Not for the touring with Nav?
|
Nope, you didn't. It is for all Z's
|
Flat rate?

1. One for Non Navi 2. One for Navi |
cool! please keep us informed.
I have the nav as does my buddy in his G37, and I hate the fact he has a camera and I don't |
Even if they do come out with it I will stil stick with an aftermarket one with an aftermarket head unit. Probably cheaper as well.

ive seen the factory location of where the back up camera goes...
my question is isnt any of you worried that itll get ripped off by some jerk that wants it more than you? i.e. in a parking lot, parking garage, city streets, etc... my brothers boss was replacing the tailgate on a customers brand new truck that someone took the whole tailgate off of just because it had a back up camera built into it...worst part was it was parked in his driveway when they stole the tailgate :icon14: |

interesting...
I acually just ordered a Red/black 2010 370z w/Nav and Sport from Fairfax nissan. This is news to me that we could get the rear view camera option, as Nissan doesn't seem to have any official information released to that effect. If they are doing it, I wonder how much extra it would cost as a factory option versus added later.
Also, does anyone have any information on current aftermarket rearview cam products for the factory nav? I remember there being one on Ebay, but it has since dissapeared. Lastly, does anyone know if we can simply hook up a camera to the aux video input? How difficult is it to select that video input, and will it stay on when the vehicle is moving in reverse? I really like the idea of having a camera, as rear vision in this car is horrid compared to my '90 Celica GT and '98 Mustang GT Convertible. |
When does it arrive?
Any idea when the back-up cam will be available?
|
The nav system in the 370 has an av input so it would be a pretty simple thing to install your own backup camera. You can buy 12v dc color cameras for around $50 to $150 (designed for spy and surveillance apps) and then simply install it in probably less than an hour.

Still thinking how it's gonna get route into the mirror since there are no cable spacer for base model, then chance is, the cable will all be in visible sight?
I was thinking more like upgrading the head unit as well, but for now stick with the clear bra first. Shout out to you LOU |

Granted, he could be wrong about the back-up camera, but chances are he would not have posted a comment unless he heard something that would lead him to believe that the camera was going to be produced. In terms of when and how much the camera will cost is anyone's guess until Nissan formally announces pricing. I imagine that it may be a few months at least. It wouldn't surprise me if your dealer was unaware of the camera. Until Nissan formally announces the pricing, this is all just preliminary discussions. Given that this factory camera is most likely going to be available as an after market dealer installed option, you're probably best served buying your car now and not waiting for Nissan to announce the introduction of this option. I for one would prefer that this option come out sooner rather than later, but given that Nissan has already announced the MY 2010/2011 changes, the backup camera may not happen until next year. Just my two cents.... Good luck. Martin |
