Do you believe your system would work like it should if you had the OEM wiring harness or that box?
yes I think my system would work if I had that box.
Whats happening is the box sends voltage to the NAV when you go in reverse which tells it to switch to rear cam input. when you leave reverse, it tells it to go back. it also does the lines and powers the camera and many other things, but I dont need that as i've got everything to work without it.

ive found 5v goes to pin 40 of the NAV unit (not documented on our 370z but documented on all nissan/infiniti backup camera capable vehicles) but i cant get it to work. might have to trigger something else at the same time that I am unaware of.

That was not me. When I go to that area I'm usually driving my pickup to the hazardous waste recycle center.

I have seen only one other yellow 370Z. Someone who works in one of those shops which line Western between Wilshire and 63rd drives it. That one is completely stock looking.....or at least no exhaust upgrade, fog light.....things that can be seen on the outside.

I see a lot of 350Z's but hardly ever see a 370. What color are you driving?

I'm in a monterey blue, but I've hardly driven it lately with the snow and then I don't want it chipped up driving down the road with the sand. I've seen the 2 yellows now, silver, red and a blue. That makes only 5. Pretty scarce if you ask me. Maybe we'll run into each other some day. Let me know how that rear camera goes, I'm interested in that mod.

"Let me know how that rear camera goes, I'm interested in that mod."

...........I'll post details and hopefully a few pictures. As a reminder .... install date is Wednesday, Jan. 13.

I know what you mean by Winter Trash......salt, sand, pieces of gravel and all that junk dropping off 18 wheelers when they hit a bump. Also it is really bad when all that stuff builds up along the concrete barriers and is whipped up by trucks and the high winds. It's Dangerous out there this time of year. Then we also have the I-35 Gravel Alley. First week of October I took a trip to Tyler, TX and got a couple of chips with just 400 miles on the car. You just can't be too careful. So no Z days for me either during bad weather and until all the junk is worn off the roads.

I'd like to find someone around here that can do a clear bra. I need to look into it. Hope the camera install goes well.

I had this back up camera install put on my Z back in June. I thought the US Z was the same as the Japan model, but no such luck. There is no harness or harness in the back of the navigation unit. However the auto shop that installed mine did a GREAT job and was just as my Infiniti G37 Coupe does. I had it installed in the little knock out plug right underneth the Lic. Plate. I looks good there and also has a way better view for backing up and not just at the ground. I have one picture to post now. If anyone is interested for more just ask.

^^ clever idea. I simply drilled a hole it right next to the license plate light (near-center blank) and mounted it right there.

Do you have the factory NAV? and if so does your NAV switch to rear view when you go into reverse?

Antbear PM'd me today and his shop is wondering about locations of factory plugs, what did your audio shop do to get it working? tapped into wires?

There is no harness to connect into, but the shop just used all the pieces that came with the camera which it looks like you have the same clarion I got. And yes it comes on just like the Infiniti's do only in reverse. You do have the option of having it come on all the time with a switch mounted but I didnt want that. I wanted set up like factory. It took them only about 30 minutes to an hour to install.

I just got off the phone and my shop cannot figure out how to do this install. Your successful install is the best news I've had in a long time especially since you live in Tulsa. So you have the same kit as I have shown in the pictures? Which shop did you use in Tulsa?

I would be interested in seeing all the pictures you have for this install.......as I'm sure everyone on the site would t
oo.

Cjanik asked...................
*****Do you have the factory NAV? and if so does your NAV switch to rear view when you go into reverse?*****

I am anxious to know the answer to this question too.

rhood is using an aftermarket Clarion system....Are you? Seems like setting up a rear camera with any of the aftermarket head units is a no brainer...
