thanks for the input
Thanks. That helped a lot.

Any update Fusz?
Any more info on this, confirmation, timing, etc?
|
I just picked up the 2010 brochure last friday and I don't see anything about a factory back up camera as an option.
|
Still waiting for confirmation.

My dealer is looking into having the camera from the Altima installed into the 370 coupe. Both the 2010 models of Altima and 370Z have similar NAV heads so, maybe, it will work!

found it!

My Canadian dealer looked up all the info he could find on Backup Cameras for the 370Z and there was no official option for us in Canada. However, I asked him to look into a mod to graft the Altima camera into the system. Hopefully it is the same electronics as the Japanese 370Z and it will be an easy mod. I will post more info when the dealer gets back to me with what he can find out.

I saw a poster at my local dealer that advertises the rear backup kit via the rear view, and it shows the screen on the driver side of the mirror, so I would guess it's available now?
I would think the navi version would be much cheaper since it wouldn't need to include the new mirror with LCD. I don't really need a backup camera on the Z, but I have it on my Murano and it's pretty cool so I wouldn't mind adding another "toy" to the Z. I wouldn't want to lose my rear view with homelink, etc tho. Unrelated, but has anyone found a way to bypass the parking brake protection on the auxiliary input of the navi system? |

I've got my eye open for it though. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_sW65ilskOC...gnifiedEye.jpg |
just FYI for a lot of people, as I have been rigorously searching for a rear view camera.
1) the camera is VERY WELL sought after - when you see one, its gone the next day. 2) the camera is universal (except for the mount). the 370z, Murano, Maxima, Altima(?), GTR, G37 , FXxx, etc, all have the same cameras and CCU units and plugs. so if you find one from any of those (must be new years 08+ for the most part, some are 09+), then it will plug and play on your 370z and NAV unit, just buy the rear-mount from the dealership. I have found a entire nissan murano NAV unit for sale w/ the camera on ebay for 150 bucks (Re-sell the NAV unit but keep the camera, still a lot, LOT, cheaper than buying new). I didnt buy it because they didnt include the CCU unit required for the "lines" to show. :( |

I came across this today... Nissan Japan - Rear Backup Camera Kit (Japanese Spec)
Has anyone done an install with this yet? How does it work? Any info or pics would be appreciated. I tried searching for other threads on this, but couldn't find anything. |

Those with OEM nav, this is their ONLY option. Many guys who have OEM nav, do not care so much about back up cam. Those without OEM Nav, went with aftermarket headunit with camera. Due to smaller number of members with OEM nav (and their less desire to put back up cam), you don't see any thread on this item. |
I have the OEM nav too, and would be interested in maybe installing this, depending on how Antbear's install goes

Maybe an awesome DIY on this install, right antbear? I'm sure your rep count will go up. |
I've got my finger on the button waiting to buy and rep... :-)

This is the response from 370Tune.com
Hello Ron, Thank you for your interest in 370ZTune and our product lines. As one of the oldest and most experienced distributors of JDM products, I am confident that this is an inquiry that we can assist you with. In regards to your questions, I honestly do not recommend this piece for you 370Z. The reality is that this camera & harness kit was intended for the JDM spec Nissan Z34 370Z. We cannot guarantee compatibility and fitment of this JDM spec item for your USDM spec 370Z. If you choose to do a self-install, the instructions (if they are included) will be written in Kanji, Kata kana, & Hiragana. My apologies that I was not able to assist you further with this. The truth is, we offer this product as a convenience and a favor to the community. OEM factory parts are not our specialty. We specialize in ordering, transporting, and distributing high-end aftermarket JDM products. Honestly, if you are interested in a camera kit I am confident that a reputable custom auto & audio shop can install a custom kit for equal or lesser value. People do it all the time and so far the results have proven to work well. Thank you for your time and please feel free to contact us anytime at your earliest convenience should you come across any additional questions or concerns. Oh well. On to the next one.

I will email my Parts and Service Rep tonight and see where Nissan's at on this project.

Hello Z-Drivers, i am new in this forum. I only want to mention that i ordered a 370z roadster. And in the contract of purchase a rearview camera is included/mentioned. I first was a little bit amazed cause i didnt read anything about it before. But then i deside not to disclaim. :pics:
I am just waiting for my Z Roadster and i am bursting with curiosity. :driving: I orderd the car so early there wasnt a detailed feature list available. And in the german price list nothing about a rearview camera is mentioned. So I think its a mistake. (IT08/nav) Greetings from Switzerland. This Forum is great ! |
Don't shoot the messenger!
From Nissan Corp. "According to the Accessory Planner, it will be offered MY11 (model year) release this summer." Looks like a little longer wait guys. Lou |

We love you to much to do that :nutswinger: |
antbear should be in the clear.
I've done so much research that ive ripped my entire car apart, installed a factory OEM camera, and connected all the wires that I believed to be necessary.(made up my own wires, no harness) I got the camera to work, I just cant fiqure out what wire will trigger the nav to switch to CAM AUX INPUT until you go out of reverse then switch back to the last mode. with that said, yes this kit will work, I dont care what that 370tune guy says, the kit WILL WORK. it is the same kit used on all nissan's and infiniti's, same plugs, same units, same everything. the downside? I dont think our 370z comes with a steering angle sensor (could be wrong). if thats the case, the lines that appear on the camera will not move right or left with your steering wheel. |
Cjanik.............
:tiphat: Thanks for the reassuring comments. Next week I will know if all that Japanese yen was well spent. Do you believe your system would work like it should if you had the OEM wiring harness or that box? |
Antbear, what is the price point on that back up JDM kit? Just out of curiosity
|
Antbear any chance you were driving up I-44 over near the Dell call center next to the river on Monday around 12:30? Saw a yellow 370 and it made the 4th 370 I've seen.

Whats happening is the box sends voltage to the NAV when you go in reverse which tells it to switch to rear cam input. when you leave reverse, it tells it to go back. it also does the lines and powers the camera and many other things, but I dont need that as i've got everything to work without it. ive found 5v goes to pin 40 of the NAV unit (not documented on our 370z but documented on all nissan/infiniti backup camera capable vehicles) but i cant get it to work. might have to trigger something else at the same time that I am unaware of. |

I have seen only one other yellow 370Z. Someone who works in one of those shops which line Western between Wilshire and 63rd drives it. That one is completely stock looking.....or at least no exhaust upgrade, fog light.....things that can be seen on the outside. I see a lot of 350Z's but hardly ever see a 370. What color are you driving? |

"Let me know how that rear camera goes, I'm interested in that mod."
...........I'll post details and hopefully a few pictures. As a reminder .... install date is Wednesday, Jan. 13. I know what you mean by Winter Trash......salt, sand, pieces of gravel and all that junk dropping off 18 wheelers when they hit a bump. Also it is really bad when all that stuff builds up along the concrete barriers and is whipped up by trucks and the high winds. It's Dangerous out there this time of year. Then we also have the I-35 Gravel Alley. First week of October I took a trip to Tyler, TX and got a couple of chips with just 400 miles on the car. :shakes head: You just can't be too careful. So no Z days for me either during bad weather and until all the junk is worn off the roads. |
