I found an app for my Android phone called Auto Guard Blackbox and it does most of the things that I want to do (however, no rear facing camera). It will record with GPS and MPH overlay, will archive the video if a collision is detected and the video is pretty stable for recording from a cell phone.
Check it out...

There are cameras with motions sensing; the camera I have is on as long as the lighter outlet is hot. It a actually has a few minutes delay before it turns off just in case of an accident. There are some motion detection settings on it, but I'm not sure if it works as is or needs something additional.

actually it would work well for shenanigans , I'm going to look for one that has a hd rear camera too. nice you can flip it and use it as a back up camera too

I know the Blackvue DR500GW is good as well and much smaller (discrete) I want to use this for both security reasons and especially when I take my car to the dealership or other place for maintenance or whatever to make sure they don't drive my car in an abusive manner but I would like it to turn on so it can stay on and not be able to turn off (??) idk if that is possible since the Blackvue DR500GW has an ON/OFF button and the guys from the dealership can shut it off once they get inside the car
The ebay one has a screen in it that is handy but for my purposes, not essential and it would not work for the use I need. |
