Very Bad News
 

Went to the dealer here in Memphis to build my Roadster today. Graphite with wine and black top - like the one in Autoweek. The dealer had already built two Roadsters. He was just notified he will only get one of the two and it will be January before it arrives. He said Nissan told them Canada will get the first cars and they will slowly work down the USA from North to South. They are very limited production and Nissan wants the few they are building going North before the winter comes. Do not believe "September". Nissan strikes again.

The first cars will hit showrooms in september but it takes much longer to actually order a car from japan. It was a 3-4 month wait if you wanted to build a 09 coupe. So 3-4 months from now is bout january.

Whats the bad news? Didn't you say Canada is getting them first? JK ;P The first 240Z landed in Vancouver, BC as does a lot of stuff from Japan. I'm pretty sure I saw pictures of the Roadsters at a dealership in Vancouver a few weeks ago. The only bad part is the roof is missing from the cars.... ;P

Bad news only if you want your Roadster ASAP. Thanks for sharing as I'll put my order in January for a March arrival, which works for me.

I'm waiting to see one in person before I order one. My dealer told me 61 days ( that was last week) till they get the one they have coming.. he said if I order one then, the way I want it, I'm looking at 5 to 6 weeks... wondering now if thats true ??

You sure he didn't misunderstand and twist the dates? September sounds about right for the 2010 model coupes, from what my dealer has told me, and various people on this forum. Which dealer did you go to? I'd recommend Wolfchase Nissan at Germantown Parkway and Stage; they were nothing but straight up and honest when I went in.

Good luck, and nice to see another Memphian around here. On a side note...I wonder if your the little blue and white Smart Car I've seen around downtown lately...its the only one I've seen at all.

Nissan has a tradition of introducing convertibles in winter. Even though it was advertised the roadster would be introduced in September, they never mentioned it would be only in Canada. No mistake, many of the USA dealers just found out their roadsters will get to them in January. My Smart is a Silver/black cabrio with 7000 miles. Gave up a Solstice GXP for the Smart and need some horsepower. Had a 350Z roadster and was one of best cars I had. Traded it for a Lotus Elise, biggest mistake I have made with my cars,

Thats a shame, and sorry to hear it for you. When I went in a few weeks back for my coupe, the dealer was practically foaming at the notion that the new verts would be arriving soon. He must have been working on old information. We even had a good laugh as we passed a 350 vert during the test drive.
