Dealer Over Inflated Tires
So I just had my first oil change two weeks ago.
Today decided to check the tire pressure in case it needed a top off. Tires were cold, ambient temps in the low 70's, and boy was I surprised at these results: One rear tire was @47psi!, the other was 46! Both fronts were @45. I scratched my head and grabbed a second Guage to rule out the equipment from a bad read, but they both gave the same results. Shocking if you ask me, can't belive I've been driving on them like this for two weeks... ... Bleed those suckers, geez. Anyone else have their dealer do this?

Dude mine were at 60 psi when I bought the car.. i deflated to 38 psi in the lot but if I didn't over analyze that and the spring clips that come on the nismo front springs would have been on as well.

Every time I go to the dealer for something, they change the psi in my tires. I have them set to Nissan specs and they keep adding more by 2psi ea time. I finally had to make a dash placard that says "do not adjust tire pressure" to go with my "do not wash" one.

Picked up my new Z on the 1st and all tires were set at 42 psi cold. Reduced all 4 to 34 psi and ride quality improved a bit. Dealer prep seems to miss that a lot. I have heard that they deliberately over inflate from the factory to avoid any possible flat spots while in transit...any truth to that?

They inflated to max tire pressure. Probably thought that was what you're supposed to inflate to. They didn't read the door sticker. I used to do this when I was 8 on my bicycle. One day after filling, I was in the house and heard a bomb go off, went outside and my tires exploded. You learn real quick what max tire pressure means.

Thanks to all for posting this information. I would never have thought to check tire pressure on a new car, for example when test driving it or taking delivery. And, now it makes sense to check after oil changes too.
Thanks again. |

Dealerships charge us an arm and a leg, but they can't even get the tire pressure right? That dealer should be ashamed . I had a dealer in Tampa improperly install OEM side mouldings on my Nismo Frontier a few years ago. They were honest enough to admit the work was unacceptable, gave me replacement parts and a complete refund, but they already wasted my time and pissed me off.

Tires on all cars are purposely overinflated from the factory for a couple of reasons. The dealers are paid to adjust the inflation pressure by Nissan when the car is delivered (dealers are independently owned and operated). It is part of their predelivery inspection (PDI). Most dealers don't do it. They just take the money Nissan pays them for the work and run......
I have never taken delivery of a Nissan or Infiniti that had the tires properly inflated.

Today is 2 months I have owned my 2014 370Z. I got on the forum, and saw this thread. Read all the replies, so went out side, and checked my tire pressure. For the past 2 months I've been driving with 40psi in the front and 42psi in the rear. I am not happy right now . Im taking her in for her first oil change on wednesday, and will put placards as ShutokuZ did

Voiding a warranty is impossible. You can get claims denied but you can't void a warranty. Like if you tune the motor and it blows they can deny the claim. But if your radio breaks they have to replace it. A tune for the motor does nothing to your radio or suspension etc. Having a receipts for oil and writing down the miles is more than enough! In this extended warranty, are the oil changes free? If not do it yourself.
