That being said I do have some "rust" issues around both door handles, and a couple random spots on the lower door, but not at the very bottom, maybe 4-6" up from there. Oddly the paint has only bubbled there, not pealed yet, but the spots by the handles it's gone, I've touched it up with a color match pen for now. You also have to keep in mind the amount I drive the car period, it has the mileage of a 12-13 year old car... |
How does the 370z perfom in the winter weather?
I don't recommend the z during active snowfall. I've tried several tires and none of them have allowed me to escape the fact that we're light, and nose heavy and have wide rears. This winter I'm going square fitment (skinnier rears) blizzaks that should help quite a bit

Summer tires-absolutely would not recommend. I have fairly new high performance summer tires on my Z and it is worthless in any snow. I seriously can't make it up many streets in town that are snow covered. And that is not the scary part. I can handle the Z being squirrelly in the rear end, but when you lose steering/braking abilities it becomes too dangerous. With summer tires you haven lose a good amount of braking ability, and I definitely wouldn't take the corners (normal speed) as fast. :p

I'd stay away from any snow driving unless you are on a dedicated winter tire. I have some 18' rims and Blizzak LM60s on the way this week.

Drove in about 2 inches of snow this weekend for the first time. Car drove just like any other cars with winter tires on.
I can't imagine driving on the stock tires in snow. There wasn't any snow yet and when temps dipped below 45f (8c) it was like driving on hockey pucks. |
I drove when it was snowing a few weeks back (from rain to snow... fkin canadia) and it was not exactly the most pleasent experience... and never wanted to do it again.

I decided the 370 is going to be driven this winter just because and with the snow tires on it feels the same as driving any other properly equipped car. |
Winter tires FTW!
|
We're going to have some 30s and 40s temps in Central Florida... I think I'm going to really limit my driving as much as possible.

Summer compounds can crack in cold temps. Every major tire seller trumpets the same message - Dont drive them in near or freezing temps. So few heed the words and wonder what happend when they have issues. Winter tires work because of the temps. Anything below 7C average and one should be on winters for effective traction, and braking most importantly. In Germany you can lose your insurance coverage without them if you cause an accident and you will be ticketed on the spot without them. Tire rack has some great vids on winter vs summer and all seasons, and the results. IF you live where its cold get winters. If you cannot afford them then you cannot afford the car if you are unable to equip it properly. Park it until you can. Winters can be the literal difference of stopping a few feet short or not, and hitting something, soft or hard doesnt matter. Cars cause great damage even at low speeds. |
