WOW, this is a truthful, and kinda funny review of a 2014 Nismo
I don't know if this is a repost, but its from CNet. And I know we're on the 370Z forum, but if we don't lie to each other, it's a pretty good review.
Oh, and didn't know the '14 Nismos come with Potenzas (S001s though)

The opening statements from the presenter about the overall package are spot on! It's hard to take the Nismo over a Sports model 370, in my lowly opinion, and I like the Nismo very much.

I think its a great review and i have to agree with the daily driver bit but regardless of how much i "feel it" its still awesome...now do we take the wifes car to go on a long distance drive? Yes sadly thanks to my new Diff bushings...yes we do.

I can't speak to the Nismo-specific points but he was spot on about the gauges and visibility.

I don't have any heartburn with the review.
I don't have a NISMO, so I can't speak to the punishing ride (that is whether or not it is that much more different than my Sport Z). For me I LIKE the elemental ride and I use my Z as a daily driver. I think it is clearly a preference think. The comments about power are a bit odd and I think we fall into that trap here sometimes. Yes, there are a number of cars available that have more hp and better 1/4 mile times, but often not that much more. Moreover, there are a number of performance cars that can't get down a 1/4 mile as quickly, let alone around a track. I like that I didn't have to pay anything extra for someone else's idea of audio and technology. The best factory offerings are usually not what I want so I'd trash whatever it would have come with. CNET did ok, they just need a reviewer that doesn't have such a sensitive tush. |

Hell yes, great review considering it's not even a car publication. Kill the water temp dots on the left info display, and make the high-center triple-meters be "oil temp", "oil pressure", "water temp". That right there would be a huge improvement on any 370Z. Nifty to see that even a CNet reviewer sees that right off the bat.

Great review/counterpoint to consider in his review. I agree on his gauge statements, the contents of them are questionable however since I don't race the car I don't think about the coolant temp dots vs. the oil temp gauge. I like the dots, easy to read for me. I'm not sure what the difference is in ride b/w the Sport package and the NISMO but I love the rougher ride, you know what's going on b/w the wheels and the road.
I don't really care about "latest engine technology" for a couple reasons. 1. It generally costs more money and 2. It's generally done to meet some kind of fuel mileage average which is gov't mandated and what the heck do they know about cars? Not to say that efficiency isn't a good thing but to make a change in the name of it doesn't go with my idea of buying a sports car anyway. Nissan is sorely antiquated on their radio technology and the reason why I wanted a base car to easily switch out the radio. Who needs navigation in a performance oriented sports car? Even if I need it, it's on my phone/ipad/portable GPS. I agree on the body kit stuff, I'm not a fan but I'm not much a fan for body kits in general. The wheels are gorgeous however and I think it's awesome that Nissan offers the options it does. I love his comments about rearward visibility - "Just keep looking forward" LOL. Isn't that where the road is taking you anyway? Thanks for posting the vid - was good to watch.

I thought the review was pretty accurate. CNET is obviously going to have some "tech" issues with a Nismo. I'm surprised they didn't spec a sport/touring/nav edition. That would be more their style. I agreed with most of his comments but CNET is never going to rave about a basic equipped pure driver's car.

I don't know, lol. The Nismo is REALLY bad. It's battering, my ISF has the worst ride out of any car I have owned, and it's REALLY bad as well, but it just jiggles you around a lot, you can still drive 500 miles on crap roads and not need a spine or arse transplant
