Why does the exhaust growl more aggressively for the first few minutes after starting

The car warms up, so the engine idles at a higher RPM.

i loooovvveeee that sound...FI made it even more enjoyable. sounds sooooo rumbly and agressive!

Combination of slightly higher rev's and over-rich mixture whilst the engine warms-up and the catalytic converters "flashing-up" - cats don;t work until they get to ~6-800DegC and that takes a couple of minutes

Mine sounds like a massive exhaust leak and loud when started. I thought it might be the flex piping in the exhaust. As the exhaust gets heated up the flex piping expands sealing itself up.

My G did it, my Z did it and my Porsche does it..........it's nothing out of the normal

I love cold starts. On the other hand, I can't sneak out of the house. Even if I some how managed to push it around the corner, she can hear my car from a mile away, as in a literal mile from my house.

Let me translate:

"My good friend had a single tip exhaust system installed. Gosh darn when he engages the ignition, it makes me go wow. He had the engine tuned up and it was faster than other peoples cars. He told me that after the tune allowed his car to produce more horsepower, he was able to claim victory in a race with an elderly gentleman the previous day".

Either that or after the tune, he mauled an old man.

Thanks, Elan... Makes sense now. Thats certainly one Boi who doesn't know the meaning of "Respect your elders", I mean, you can't just go around whipping faces, let alone rearranging them.
