Default Which 370z to get? New or used?

First off, I'm new here and I apologize ahead of time if this happens to be in the wrong place.

After owning an '05 350z Ultra Yellow 35th Anniversary a few years back, I have always wanted to get back into a Z and regret getting rid of the 350z. Fast forward to today and I am planning on getting a 370z on Saturday. I'm looking at two, one new and one used, and am pretty undecided. I have not seen either because they are both about an hour from my home.

The first one is a new 2013 base with the sports package in Pearl White for $30k off the lot. I like the idea of getting a new one with the benefit of a full warranty and I won't have to worry about how the previous owned might have treated it.

The second one is a 2010 touring with the sports package in Monterey Blue with Persimmon interior with 21K miles on it. They want $24k for it. I do like the Blue and have always had a thing for the Persimmon interior. The basic warranty has just expired but there are two years left on the powertrain warranty.

I work from home and the car might end up getting 5k miles on it every year. The insurance will actually be cheaper for the 2013, but only by a couple of bucks.

Please, if you can, help me make my damn mind up. I don't think I can go wrong, but I'm having trouble figuring out which one is the better/smarter buy.

Oh, and I'm glad to be here. I remember joining my350z.com the day before I bought my 350z. I guess this is sort of the same deal.

base sport for 30k new, if they proposed 30k, ask if they will take 27k, work it! I paid 26k for mine with 10k miles last year, dont be afraid to piss them off. I would be all over that If they will not truly budge go used.

Default I will take the 2010...

You want to pay $6000+ extra at the end of a model year for 21000 miles? The difference and especially since you drive so little, is not worth it.

If I paid $30k for a car, I would spend a heck of a lot more time and miles driving it.

Yeah, it won't get driven very often, but the drive is 50 minutes to the office when I go in and other trips are usually 80 miles each way to visit family. So when I do drive, I'm in it enough time to have fun with it. When I had the 350z, I had a 1.5 hour commute into work and most of that was on an interstate. I still had fun and really enjoyed it as a commuter.

Edit: Also, my wife is already claiming two days a week that she gets to drive it to work (10 miles away). I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing, but it will get driven some every week.

Id take new, price difference is not that much considering you will be getting 3 years newer and 0 miles and full warranty, not to mention a lot of minor things revised here and there.

30k w/ sport package is a pretty sweet deal.

Obviously u will take a bigger initial depreciation hit, but if you plan to keep the car for at least 2 years the initial depreciation will level out with the depreciation that the 2010 will go through.

peace of mind of new vs used also a factor, even though the car is pretty bulleproof - beat on anything enough and it will give.

if the new dealer starts trying to play games, bring up the used car ur considering and be ready to walk out, u will be surprised by the deal they will give u.
this time of year is best time to buy a sports car

Default Get the new one.

I was looking to get a new or used 370Z earlier this year. I traded in my 2005 350Z 35th anniversary edition. In July I got my new 2012 370Z for $29988 with a sticker of $37465 after it sat on the dealers lot unsold for 15 months. I looked at and drove a few used ones and I am very happy that I got a brand new one at a good price. The blue with persimmon is a rare combination that requires a rare buyer. If you love it you may be able to get a better deal on it since it is not universally liked.

In my case I wanted Touring with Manual and Sport package, and couldn't find that combo anywhere, (that I could afford, he he), so finally I found used with 11K on it. 2009, but with such low miles and powertrain warranty I was willing to take a chance.
If you don't mind the base bareness, go for the new.

I've pretty much got a deal done for the 2013 and will be heading down to close the deal tomorrow morning. If they try to backtrack and change the numbers, then I will take the 45 minute drive over to see the 2010. Most of my communication with the dealership has been via email and they have seemed to be pretty eager to sell the 2013. It is actually a pretty small dealership and they probably don't sell many 370's in the summer...let alone the winter.

Thanks for the feedback everybody.

i was in a similar situation you were in, i liked the sport+touring more than the base imo. plus i like the 09-12 sport wheels better also.

Make sure the used is a good clean car spend a good amount of time lookin at it. If it's good to go get that and call it a day! No big depreciation hit and you will have money for mods !! Also that persimmon is so clean!

New one (if your financially able). Buying a used sports car is too risky imo. People can abuse the crap out of it.

Default New One---By All Means

Buy the new one and keep it. Used sports cars scare me. Most people don't buy sports cars to drive them gently and not many people give up a trouble free gem with only twenty something thousand miles on it. I'd buy the new Z, maintain it carefully and keep it for the long haul. My practice has been to buy the finest new car I can afford, maintain it carefully and enjoy it 10 years & 100,000 miles. Works for me. (Get the ClearBra before you even drive it home. Smartest move you can make if you're going to keep the car for a while).

I'd get a Sport+Touring, huge difference inside, I'd get the one with Nav and some nice interior combination, also it has the iPhone connection, rear camera, power all, leather, etc, etc, etc, it's freaking nice. Used with say 10-15k is always better, get whichever has already taken the biggest depreciation hit, in about 2 weeks the 2013 will be a year old anyway
